So I'm not good with words, but I think my city might turn out ok. First, I streamed the making of, so I will post a link to that if you want to watch.

Play 1:

Play 2:

So with that out of the way, here I go.

Delta Junction. I'm using the Helena Coast map (http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=433724273&searchtext=helena).

I should note here, that I did modify the map though. I moved the start point, and put in a connection to that start point. I wanted to start where I was going to have industry, and the original start point I did not want industry there at all.

So first, lets look at a overview of the map.

Delta%20Junction%20Map.jpg?psid=1

Do note, this was before I moved he start point, so the highway is slightly off, but I did not modify any terrain. Just the start point, and made sure it had a connection to the outside world.

And the resources

Delta%20Junction%20Resources.jpg?psid=1

And the wind

Delta%20Junction%20Wind.jpg?psid=1

So I moved in, and I wanted to make a real looking city. Yes grids happen, but I wanted to conform to the terrain when needed. The starting area allowed for that nicely. My first houses.

255710_2015-05-07_00001.png?psid=1

I tried to follow the coast line with the roads, and think it turned out nicely. This is my wind mill hill. I kept adding to it, as you will see in later pictures. It reminds me of what you see in Western Washington.

255710_2015-05-07_00002.png?psid=1

After the city had grown some, I was looking around the city. I realized just how big that water pump was up on the hill. Wow.

255710_2015-05-07_00004.png?psid=1

And wind mill hill from a top a local factory. There are more than two now, but this was early on you see.

255710_2015-05-07_00005.png?psid=1

Now my engineers swear they put the pipes underground, but I question that. I can't prove them wrong though. Anytime I walk to were my data sheet says, I don't see them. However, I swear my data sheet says they are floating in air.

255710_2015-05-07_00007.png?psid=1

We also had an issue with boats that defied gravity too, my cousin vinnie wanted a picture to show off when he visited.

255710_2015-05-07_00009.png?psid=1

So, as our city expanded, we needed a new cemetery and medical clinic. It cost a little money, but we cut away a mountain and put it down by the boat launch.

255710_2015-05-07_00010.png?psid=1

I realized I didn't do good on showing the town, I hope to get better screen shots for next update. I realize not everyone wants to watch 3 hours of video.

    Update #1

So, as I stated at the end of the last post, I did a bad job showing my area off. So I wanted to fix that. First, the video:

All right, so first area I have is the Seaside Heights. This is a residential area. I originally wanted to keep this an uneducated area, but when I wanted to switch my industrial to ore, I found out I needed educated workers.

    255710_2015-05-07_00013.png?psid=1

One of the first things I wanted to do in this area was add the needed education, and make for a nice complex. You will notice here a cemetery and the education complex. This is before I spruced it up with parks and decorations.

    255710_2015-05-07_00015.png?psid=1

And what I came up with for the final complex

    255710_2015-05-08_00001.png?psid=1

So west of the residential is the industrial. You can see it here

    255710_2015-05-07_00016.png?psid=1

Comercial lines the 4 lane may way through the vally pass. This connects the industrial and Seaside Heights with the other small residential area.

    255710_2015-05-07_00017.png?psid=1

The second residential area needed medical, fire, and police. I thought they should have there own complex, and so a few parks, some paths and trees, and well see what you think. Oh yeah, I also needed a cemetery on this side, so it went here as well.

    255710_2015-05-07_00018.png?psid=1

They kept asking for more houses, so I expanded farther west and put in Raphael Sai neighborhood. Yes it has a odd tail, just think of it as a leather strap connected to the handle. It got named before that part was added.

    255710_2015-05-08_00004.png?psid=1

Now garbage was piling up, so an incinarater and a recycling center had to be added next to the dumps. It is questioned if the dumps will ever be emptied, but at least there is a place for trash again.

    255710_2015-05-08_00005.png?psid=1

With the new found cims, a new area was purchesed and work on the great downtown district began. This was to be the gridest of grids. The best of the best. Sir. Well 500k later, it was born.

    255710_2015-05-08_00007.png?psid=1

The entire area was starting to look nice. From the humble beginnings of the small Seaside, to the great high rises that were "The Grid", wait that should be the districts name. Let me right that down.

Have you already unlocked those tree streets? They look cooler. The rest looks cool.

Nice man. I like the way you conform to the terrain. Love the curvy 4 lane road by the water. Also like how you make the wind farm realistic looking. My recommendation for the grid part, using grids that face the water (with diagonals when necessary) makes it more realistic looking. Maybe you already know that, looks like you've got some space between the grid and the rest of the town.

I unlocked them now. I have a lot of upgrading to do.

I am trying to make it realistic. Thank you. On the grid, I'm not sure I understand.

Seattle is what I'm going off, as that's is where I live. They have two directions, on north south, on based on shoreline. I understand it was two different engineers with two different ideas. I based my grid direction off parallel the river. I left space between the river as I want to make something for a dock or something there. Also, I have space between grid and rural, I plan on going from high rise to rural transition. I just wanted to get over to the grid and get money/people.

Wow! The way that city conforms to the coastline is really well done!! Your city has a very nice layout.

    Thank you.

    --------------------

So, my next update I hope to do tomorrow. As before I will record/stream on twitch. Export to Youtube. I ran the city on high speed for a while to make 3 mil. I had to do some hasty traffic patches so the city didn't implode.  That being said, the next video will be mostly cosmetic and fixing the traffic. I should have more than enough money for this, so will be more entertaining. I want to work on a sunken highway/rail system. I need 3 on off sections to add for the highway, and 1 for the rail to the industry. I have an idea, and will get to it.

So I did the update today I was promising.

I spent 2 hours working on, well fixing the city and one highway junction.

    255710_2015-05-12_00001.png?psid=1

This highway junction to the industrial was a huge issue. It was lined up a long ways. I deleted it trying to make sunken highway. It didn't work out, so I had to try again a second time.

Working with they highway, the rail became an issue. I revisited how I had it done, and made some changes. I flattened out a hill for the rail to come in on to the station.
    255710_2015-05-12_00002.png?psid=1

After flattening a hill with the mod to let you terraform (and over 100k in bucks) I moved the station from its old location to the new one on the hill. A little smoothing of the grade, a road to the top, an we are in business.

    255710_2015-05-12_00006.png?psid=1

I than used raised rail to loop around for the rail to exit the city.

    255710_2015-05-12_00005.png?psid=1

With the rail out of the way, I was able to finish my original plan. I sunk the highway and added a surface street overpass. Everything was great. Well It made traffic, well lots of traffic.

    255710_2015-05-12_00003.png?psid=1

I didn't capture the traffic, but I did capture what I did to solve it. I dedicated an in and out for the industrial area. This worked, and traffic flowed great.

    255710_2015-05-12_00004.png?psid=1

With the traffic flowing, and my cims happy, I had to use Mr Maison's Shade trees on the whole area to spruce it up. ()

    255710_2015-05-12_00007.png?psid=1

    255710_2015-05-12_00008.png?psid=1

    255710_2015-05-12_00009.png?psid=1

    255710_2015-05-12_00010.png?psid=1

So two hours, and I made one highway junction. During this I did have to fix an issue with garbage, death, and well the main issue of traffic. I hope you enjoy my interchange.

I never even looked at what format they are in. I just took the screenshot from the game and pasted here. I will look into that.

I'm glad you like the highway. I will be posting hopefully today my continuation of that sunken highway.

So, it has bee a while since I got a post up here, but I have been playing and recording what I have done. So first video is all about more sunken highway. I spend way to much time just making slight adjustments. I also added the road color to darker, and the American roads mod.

    More sunken Highway

There isn't much to this, just a lot of me playing with things to get this.

    255710_2015-05-13_00001.jpg?psid=1

    255710_2015-05-13_00002.jpg?psid=1

I want to expand the sunken highway out to here, but I haven't yet.

    255710_2015-05-13_00003.jpg?psid=1

I also need to fix my rail, it is just put in there halfheartedly.

So this is my downtown area now with the new highway.

    255710_2015-05-13_00004.jpg?psid=1

So the sunken highway is taken of my RL experiance. As a lot of the this update is. Here you can see i-90 crossing Mercer Island in the Greater Seattle area.

    I-90%20corridor.jpg?psid=1

This is what my previous sunken highway is based on. Trees lining the highway, and an overpass.

I do want to find concrete sound bariers that are not connected to the road to mimic this view which is slightly north of Seattle on I-5.

    Concrete%20Noise%20Barrier.jpg?psid=1

    And the entire area now

    255710_2015-05-13_00005.jpg?psid=1

And the plots I have bought at this time

    255710_2015-05-13_00006.jpg?psid=1

My next big project was to fix the sewage issue. My game crashed part way through, so there are two videos on this.

So, I spent all my time doing this.

    255710_2015-05-13_00008.jpg?psid=1

    And the area view.

    255710_2015-05-13_00009.jpg?psid=1

So I used this guide: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=429965889

It turned out good, but I'm having an issue with the water level lowering. I need to re visit it, and see how to not have it drain. I put it where I did partly based on my real life experiance. I live in the greater Seattle area, and as a child drove past this a lot:

    Bremerton%20Water%20Treatement.jpg?psid=

Mine does not have round pools, but it is next to the water. I think I want to add a ship yard to the bay to the left of the plant. Just to the right of the RL picture above is a naval ship yard.

    https://www.google.com/maps/place/Bremerton+Wastewater+Treatment/@47.5508798,-122.6733774,14z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0000000000000000:0x3bbd7951754949d4

So the last update I wanted to expand my downtown area.

Again I used RL as my example, and well Seattle is built funny with our road grids.

    Seattle%20Map.jpg?psid=1

So the story I understand is it was two engineers who built this. The guy on the north side of town wanted north south roads. The guy on the south side wanted to follow the coast. This causes odd triangles, and well I wanted to do this in my city as well. I have the above example so no one can say it isn't realistic. Also, GL driving in downtown Seattle the first few times. Oh, I don't have it, but the above grid is a lot of one ways too.

    255710_2015-05-15_00003.jpg?psid=1

A closer view of the odd angles.

    255710_2015-05-15_00002.jpg?psid=1

And right in the middle, I took that section out to add my education area. With parks as well.

    255710_2015-05-15_00004.jpg?psid=1

I added more shade trees on the paths, as well as some willows from the same asset I used before.

    255710_2015-05-15_00005.jpg?psid=1

    255710_2015-05-15_00006.jpg?psid=1

And last, I expanded the low density residential between my downtown and seaside heights.

    255710_2015-05-15_00001.jpg?psid=1

It now loops around that hill in the middle. I feel it should get a name. I'm not sure the next project at this time. I do want to work on the trains. I don't seem to have a connection to the outside of my city? I have a crazy hack trying to get it working, and I know that will all need reworking at some point. I also want to add an amusement park and a dock system on the river in front of the downtown.

That custom sewage treatment plant you built looks very good, and overall I love how you curve the city around that cluster of hills.

    Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

    This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage

    Beautiful CJ there.
Amazing to see how well you assemble your city to real Seattle.

The way you build between the hills is very nice :)
