Sorry for the capslock title but this is a very important warning.

 

 

I noticed some problems with the way the asset editor handles textures and I discovered a bug that can strongly reduce the quality of your work if you're not careful.

 

When you set the game to "medium" or "low" texture quality (even in the asset editor), the game uses a smaller version of the textures of a building.

 

 

If you save a new asset while on medium or low, it will be saved with that low resolution version as a base texture, even if your computer is a bit low on graphic power you HAVE to set the game to high quality textures before saving or you will degrade the quality or your build.

 

 

 

I hope not too much buildings were released using the wrong settings.

I suspect it might change the filesize too because the buildings were saved by the game with 512 or 256* maps instead of 1024.

That is good to know.  I bought a brand new machine right before Cities: Skylines came out so I've already been running on all high settings, but I would have never guessed that would have been a problem if I was running on lower settings.
