Very nice!

Those powerlines in the airport update appear to be dangerously close to the airport. Another plane crash today wouldn not be liked very much!

Nice updates!

I ran powerlines across the runway at first. Planes went through them fine. HAHA.

Think of the powerlines as an emergency harness for planes overshooting the runway.  That is an awfully short runway for an A380, after all.

That's true. Or maybe they can be launched with those elastic powerlines!

Very nice update! I love your CJ!

That overview picture is really good, I especially like the polluted trees which indicate exactly where the industry is!

Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage

HA. I found that the natural growth trees have that effect. But if you plant custom mod trees, their colors stay the same. Next, I will work on improving the environment in the industrial districts.

Just east of the metro core is a cove with a triangle-shaped island in the middle. This area was used as a sewage treatment plant for a long time. The water was polluted and this side of downtown was much less well to do.

The island had no bridge to it. It was long been a place for lovers to go make out. It was known as the hippie island way back. It was close by, yet a world away.

    Way back then:

    The industrial days:

    The post-industrial days:

The city grew and the area gentrified. The sewage treatment plant eventually moved way outside the city with much more upgraded facilities. The "Triangle Island" area soon changed. A pedestrian bridge and trail network is being built. The bridge is a favorite natural getaway only steps from the city.

The following image shows a pedestrian promenade linking downtown with the Triangle Island.

Don't you want to have a picnic on the island on a weekend afternoon, at what used to be industrial land?

Today I'd like to do a focused update, and a big one, of the Municipal Airport's parking and bus transit hub.

The municipal aiport has become a busy place with many tourists. It has become necessary to increase bus service between the airport the city. I decided to build a bus transit hub that would accommodate many bus lines with several bus bays. I also built a parking facility next to the airport.

    tkUVBKc.jpg

Bus bays are standard designs, with back-to-back benches, vending machines, greenery, and a free-wifi in the middle. They look quite nice along the diagonal bus lanes.

    ciDbAJv.jpg

With the increase of transit budget, bus stops no longer see huge crowds.

    AUEMeBO.jpg

These tourists carry their luggage. So cute. And they are busy taking photos. It's a bus stop! What's so pretty to photograph. They never stop. Oh, and then they "disappear into the bus"

    LJRn4ii.jpg

    9mw2Z0X.jpg

Geez. Some of them are even on their tablets and phones. And some have dogs with them.

    WOH4aLX.jpg

Between the bus transit hub and the parking garage is a busy road. I built a pedestrian bridge linking the two sides.

The transit hub has the same design feature of abundance of greenery as the city itself. You wait for buses in such lush green areas. Hear birds singing.

I wanted to make a joke about the plane, but maybe this is not the right moment...

Nevertheless, great pictures. I like how the airport fits in its environment. :thumb:

Are you talking about the airplane wings going through trees?

Well, the game has lots of interesting oddities.

The University of Rotterdam Medical Center is currently the biggest medical center in the city. Let's get right to it.

Nice! That park was very smooth. Also did you change the colour of the road in the third picture?

No, I was saying that I liked how you designed the airport with the public transport connectivity, and commented on Feyss' remark about planes and trees, and the crash in the French Alps.. bit too soon yes :)

Very much like your new hospital zone as well, and am curious about that road stub in the 3rd picture just like Ln X.

This update is a major overhaul in the city. It was to replace an ordinary two-way, four-lane street running across town east-west with an added elevated viaduct in the middle. Traffic analysis shows that there are many trucks going from the east river industrial area, all the way across the city to the Port on the west side of the city. This increases a lot of heavy traffic on this ordinary street. The street is busy, has many intersections, with shops, offices, and residential buildings. The plan is to add an elevated segment for much of the street. Traffic splits into local lane and the elevated lane, and then merges at the end of the street. This greatly increases efficiency, as these trucks often do not stop along the way. It is just a lot of stuff they have to go through. Why not "skip" it using the elevated lanes. Local lanes still have access to the businesses along this road.

First, I re-did the bridge linking the city core and the river east area. These vehicles were flying over the river when the bridge was taken out.

    ZWaR3PG.jpg

The following image shows the elevated road. As a result, the whole thing takes more space, but traffic is solved. Also, the bridge is now two separate directions, six lanes each. The road splits into elevated and local right after the bridge, and re-joins right before the medical center on the west side.

Nice overhaul. I have just one point, for me the bridges (elevated road) are too high.
