Scaling Issues

Hey guys, fairly new here.

I'd heard of Simtropolis before and had popped by once or twice when playing Sim City 4, but with Cities Skylines and it's wonderful modding support I decided to stretch my 3D Art muscles and make some assets.

I'm basically posting because I'd like to know how people set up their model files for getting the correct scaling before importing in game. I understand there is an element of loading in and eyeballing it in game but I've found that relying on this is fairly unreliable and with the two assets I have created so far, while I'm happy with them, the scaling feels off. I use 3Ds Max for modelling so that's what I'd looking for suggestions in and I've read over the wiki but the measurements still feel a bit vague, in terms of setting up a grid and what not.

Any ideas or help would be awesome, and I'll still be experimenting myself, of course, and I'll share if I figure anything out.

Cheers!

I believe units should be set to meters.

You could export an 8x8x8 meter cube to double check that the size is correct since one tile in the game is 8m.

The scaling might feel off, if you're scaling things using realistic dimensions, if the existing buildings in the game might not be scaled correctly or consistently. I think everyone will eventually settle into using realistic dimensions for everything, replacing all of the current game content, so I'd just make things to real dimensions and not worry about it.

Yeah, I was doing some experiments last night, and it does seem that some buildings stick to something more realistic while others have been adjusted to fit the aesthetic. I'll just keep doing things as I was then and see what happens, cheers!
