And this is what happens when the big guys flop.

I'm so glad CO was there to pick up the pieces. They've been rewarded for their hard work and dedication by an equally hard working and dedicated community. I'm truly happy about that.

Now give us those tunnels, W2W zoning, 2 lane highways, moddable tunnels and bridges, single train track options, make historic button, option to go past 4x4 lot sizes, ability to make filler ploppables in asset editor, easier way to make thumbnail images of custom content for the UI, ability to mod vehicles (and tracks), boubledecker transport options (like rail over road/ road over road), Metro options placed like bus stops (over road), Trams, metro to elevated and surface options, lift the object cap on trees, population etc for those with beefy systems running 81 tiles or at least the ability to mod these things in so you the company don't have to work so hard and you will see probably at least 10,000,000 more copies sold over time. Though I already have the game, I will still throw more money at you.

True. But those sales figures were achieved only after 4 months on the market to reach 2 million, while CO got to 1 Million in only a month. And EA likely spent more just on marketing SC2013 to achieve those sales in 4 months than CO's entire development budget for CS, let alone essentially relying only on word of mouth and strong gaming reviews to achieve those sales figures.

Not to take away from SC2013's performance, but for a AAA game from EA to struggle in the marketplace (and let's face it, even at 2 million sold, between their development, marketing budget, and ongoing server costs, likely resulted in little, if any actual profit from those revenues), but for CO to roll out a game that has performed so well in such a short period of time with a development staff smaller than the number of interns EA probably had running around during the SC build, is a remarkable accomplishment. And even after factoring in expenses to Paradox as their publisher and Steam as their platform, CO in all likelihood made a very tidy profit in a very short time frame.

So yes, CO still has a long road ahead to assure ongoing success and profit from this game, but they are off to a pretty nice start so early in the race.

So how long until the number of CS copies sold passes the number of SC copies sold?

That will probably take a few years. SC sold pretty well, just seemed not to meet the expectations of the big parent company and had the costs of a big studio behind it. They probably expected more money from continuous DLC releases.

Edit: Oops, I missed that there was another page. Well, see above.
