Need help location the code controlling University ploppables

Hello all, 

 

I am attempting to mod SC5 to make the university better. I generally like to design my cities around my university, so there are a couple of features I want to mod into the game. However, I have been unable to find the code I need to edit in the Javascript files and was hoping I could get some help from the veterans.

 

1) I want to be able to plop an additional dorm at every upgrade of the university. Can someone tell me where to edit the restrictions on # of plopables?

 

2) I want to make fraternity houses plopable. I dislike how the game can spawn fraternity houses across the map no where near the university if that is where the rich area of town is. I have even tried only making the rich area with low density roads next to the university, but the mansions never turn into frat houses no matter how many times I destroy a mansion hoping it will be created as a frat house the next time. Can someone tell me if this is possible and give me somewhere to start?

1. For that, you would have to look in the main SimCity scripts file, which will allow you to alter the university's module counts.

 

2. I didn't even know frat houses existed in this game, but if you want to make a building ploppable, there are a variety of properties you have to add and get rid of. You may want to look into the Project Avalon files for help with that.

     This is not correct. I have had them occur far away from my university (10 city blocks away) and I have had mansions never become frat houses despite being next to the university.

    I think the key is new zoning actually. I agree though, it does feel random, but it's a cool addition when it happens.
