I got here by going to www.simtropolis.com. But if I visit https://simtropolis.com/(i.e. no "www") I get:

Error 522 Ray ID: 1ba27f93ba22095c Connection timed out

You

Dallas CloudFlare

simtropolis.com Host Error

Sorry if this was previously reported or well known.

Incomplete web addresses have that result.  What ever gave you the idea you could omit the www?

I guess it's from years of using the internet and the web, and finding that practically every site is configured to work that way. Including, I think, this one, previously.

I wouldn't be surprised if this configuration "choice" was leading to losing traffic, as a casual visitor would assume the site is down.

I think you were just trying during a peak traffic moment, simtropolis.com works just fine for me.

Still not for me; I first noticed a few days ago. Tried in IE and Firefox.

Thanks. In firefox, I get the same error page as before. I wonder if anyone else can confirm the problem?

I wasn't posting to solicit help, though, but to report a "bug."

    Possibly,

    • This isn't a bug but intentional
    • or, this is only affecting me for some reason.

    testing ...

when I typed simtropolis.com into my address bar on a new copy of firefox, it took me directly to the home page.

So, where are you typing this address??  Perhaps you have a problem on your machine?

BTW, I have a full set of Bookmarks for entering this site on various forums.

Interesting. I just tried it on my phone, in Chrome, and got the same error. Then I disabled the wifi on my phone (so I'd be connecting via Verizon's network instead of my DSL) and simtropolis.com immediately redirected to the forums (actually a mobile version).

So the problem is my wifi, or my ISP, or maybe just my geographical location. (The error page mentioned a cloudflare server in Dallas).

Very strange, and I don't see what I could change to fix it, given the specific error page I'm getting (posted above).

Something failed in accessing your name server.  Perhaps the extra layer cut it out.
