Actually, I have a separate account on this machine specifically for doing something like that.  Not no plugins, but fewer.

A well organized plugin folder can make it more manageable.  However 12gb does seem to be a bit much.

I am new to simcity 4 and I can honestly say I have probably spent more time downloading, learning and troubleshooting (especially as I use mac) than actually playing the game. I am just trying to get a tree controller to work right now, had the last downloads done but still get a couple of brown boxes (more hours troubleshooting and testing).

Now I have decided to just start playing, forget any new ways to enhance the game (apart from some new stunning BATs that will come out) and basically do what I want and that is play, not fiddling with my plugin folder.

It's getting kind of hard to believe things are going to get better. I've been drowning to long to believe that the tides going to turn.

Success simply consists of getting up one more time than you fall.

Impossible to play the game without any mods for me, I would die from boredom. Right now I have 14 Gbs, but I never play a region with more than 7 Gbs nowadays, choosing different Plugins from one city to another. That is about the max my computer can handle without jamming the frames during Rush hr.

Very large plugin suites can be pruned if they contain junk files such as *.sav, *.jpg, *.html etc.  Only true plugin files should be there, namely:

*.SC4LOT

*.SC4DESC

*.SC4MODEL

*.DAT

*.DLL

I agree with A Nonny Moose.  Only keep the files that are needed for the plugin.  If you want to save the other files, like the readme files or jpgs, create another folder under MyDocuments (like 'SC4 Misc', or something) and save them there.
