I'm thinking about starting a city journal for my primary city Vista Del Mar.  I have been doing some looking around both the forums and wonder what I need to know and which would be a better fit for me. I am looking at telling the story of the city from its districts and neighborhoods then a narrative as it expands...I'd like to start it in a place that will offer as much traffic for potential viewership as possible...

If the city is now a going concern, you should write a short history then insert some pictures.  After that, it is a matter of keeping up the continuity in the style you like.

The very best advice I can give you is to have several entries prepared before you go through with it, and then be prepared to change them to fit whatever changes you want to make as you go along.  Having several prepared helps keep you from being one of those who post a promising first entry and then is never heard from again.  Also, having entries ready to go helps you not be one of those people who only ever tell us about what they're going to post.

 

So far as traffic?  Being a new city journal. you may want to give it a few entries (not all on the same day, give us a few days to have a chance to look at them, we all have lives, after all) for people take note of what you've created.  The dedicated City Journals section gets more traffic than the forum subsection here, but if you do good work people will notice not matter where you are.  Then, of course, do whatever you want!  The more unique, the better.  Make something with your voice, with your abilities.

"Going concern" in this case means up and running and making a profit.  This is a common English usage, so one assumes that English is not your first language.
