Feature Request in Forums

I'd like to subscribe to some threads but I don't want a notification for every comment posted. Sometimes, especially with CJs, I only care about the author's posts. One solution proposed is adding a only notify when topic starter posts option to the subscription dialog. But sometimes I'm notified about an author's post that isn't important. For example, an author answers a question about a prop used. Another more flexible solution is to have author(s) flag posts important or something similar and have a only notify of important posts option in the subscription dialog. This could be useful with announcements like the NAM threads, but especially the CJs. Multiple people could have the ability to flag posts important in group CJ projects. And a filter could be written to show only important posts, making trimmed CJs easily viewable.

Yes I agree having this a option would be very useful and also been able to go the newest page in a thread would be cool too.

But as Voar Tok said, this is only somthing idealbb can make happen unless dirk can do some serious programing.

Yeah, that would be pretty cool.

You can subscribe to the author though, so you will know when he posts.

Well, that would also inform the person when he posted in a different thread also.

Well, this feature idea might be a little controversal but I think that if you start a thread, that member should have full or partial control (whatever suits best) of the whole thread. I mean the ability to do what the admins / mods can except only for the threads which the user starts. Things like changing the title, deleting any post, editing any post and the ability to move the thread (just in case you post your thread in the wrong forum) could be included but obvious features not to be included would of course be things like the ability to pin your thread and other total control features like that. It's just an idea, but what do other people think?

That sounds like a great idea lakeyboy, only you can't have a picnic without ants.
In other words there will always be people who will abuse these kind of powers34.gif

I have to agree with Hordijk on this one.  95% of the people here play nice with each other but a few don't and won't.  While not perfect, the system we have now with moderators and administrators works well, given human nature to sink to the lowest level. 10.gif

It's a very nice idea LB, but like everyone has said it gets to the point where peeps will take the mick.  Not to mention if you give away more power where will the giving stop? I hate to say this but its always best to just say no to the coolest idea becuase once some one gets their way, an avalache of people will come along asking for the same thing or more.

It's the cruellest system ever built but it was built by humans, so there's no way of undoing it until whoever does take the mick vanishes or improves.

Also, if you think about it such giving would ghost alot of members... You know, a person posts a non-vital message but has a BRILLIANT CJ, think of all of his messages that will be deleted, along with his link to his CJ that hasn't been refreshed for months on end... No one would know that he would exist, not to mention his opinoin wouldn't be able to be expressed anymore - all forms of people would delete it.

I likewise think it is a great idea in theory, however, there is also the logistical problems that would come with it.  Given that ST was hacked recently, I don't think that it would be a wise idea to open more security holes in the system.
