Brown Lots on High Graphics Setting

One day I realized that the trees in my game lacked shadowing. So I'm like, what the hell? I go to the graphics menu to fix the rendering options: I put everything on high and I switched the rendering to hardware. Restarted the game, and the trees look perfect, but I start zoning houses and the lots look like the construction workers never got done. But when I switch it back, the lots are fine.

I have windows 7. I'm thinking maybe there's something in the AMD Vision Engine Control Center. I don't know. Help would be appreciated much. Because I'm stumped.

You are dealing with a legacy game.

The GPU control centre may let you develop a separate profile for specific applications.  If so, set one up for SimCity 4 with all of the 3D controls set either to 'off' or 'application selected'.  This program doesn't play well with modern graphics hardware features.

That AMD control centre is clearly a successor to the ATI Catalyst software.  It is a new one on me, even though I have an AMD GPU in this machine.  You might see if that control centre has a manual and give it a serious, detailed read.

As an experiment, try it with OpenGL.  To do this you must use the command line option -d:opengl which will force that decor.  [if you don't know how to do this, there are several posts that explain the command line system.]

Alright I'll try all this out. I am somewhat familiar with OpenGL. I'll see how this goes. I've been going through a Simcity withdrawal. Lol
