Population density based on available land?

Hi,

I'm wondering if there is a way to calculate a city's population density based on the land available instead of the city borders?

For example, in my region I have a series of islands that I would like to know what is the population density, just for fun. But the islands are different sizes so I can't just calculate the population based on each city as a whole, I would need some way of knowing how much land is available in order to calculate the true density. See what I mean?

Well, the grid is 16 m.  If you turn on the grid (g key) you could count the land squares, but this would be inaccurate because you can't build on all of the land.  But it is maybe a start.

I was hoping there was something more systematic, but it's helpful to know there's isn't anything like that available. Thanks!

If you really want to get a "precise" answer, It might be possible to screenshot a data view and flood fill the water area and otherwise compute that area (might require some CAD software).  Probably not worth the effort, though - although if you did have the means you could probably run it pretty quickly and easily.
