My question is would it be possible to transfer a city tile from one computer to another? I have the ring of fire map on both my laptop and desktop the laptop is much better at making transport lines and rendering the tiles. Where the desktop is much better for zoning and doing all the MMps and such and the game plays better does not crash.

My goal would be to make my freeways and such on my laptop and then transfer to the desktop where it will stay to be zoned and decorated and such

Thanks for any help  47ply

There are a couple of techniques you could employ since you are moving between machines.  If you want to move the cities back and forth, the best way is to copy the whole region onto a thumb drive and then just copy it into the file system.  This if you want to keep the whole region in synch.

To copy a city is just a little trickier if you want to insert it in an existing region.  Try this:

  1. Using your file system, copy the city file on to a thumb drive from the source machine.
  2. Copy the city from the thumb drive to the target machine into the folder
    C:\<you>\documents\SimCity 4\Downloads
  3. Start the game and open the target region.
  4. Select the target city and instead of opening it, click on the icon to import the city.  This will take you to the Downloads folder where you simply find the city and double click on it.  This only works if the two tiles are the same size.

To copy the city back, simply follow the steps above swapping the sense of the two machines.

If you can connect the two machines, the thumb drive is not needed.  But you will need to be logged into both machines simultaneously.
