How about you flip the walls around. Make the depth of the columns be on the outside.

I have started windowing and i have also started shaping the base.

I'm telling myself ; because it's my first building, it doesn't allow me to do it an ugly and precipated way.
    Clipboard13.jpg
the skeleton (body)shape is about complete (i mean the shape will stay the same.)
For the base i'm planning something good, at the front and at the back.
any suggestions will be welcomed :)

    Update

I think that i will texture the columns and the beams with a glass texture... or something of that kind...
i'm almost finished windowing, all i need is to window the curved face... i was finish with it but i discovred a small glitch in it that had to be remade all... so i deleted the windows and i have to start over that section :-/

For the base i have an idea of some stairs surrounded by fountains...

(if the image doesn't display right click on it and click display picture)

that's the entrance.. i think it looks kinda flat... and i'm not sure if it fits with the rest of the architecture... anyways, tell me what you think about it.
    Clipboard29.jpg

and of course the colours are temporary... I am thinking about adding some 'x' doors (the ones that spin) that way it would add a bit of a dimension.

    Hi

Here's a project I am starting, it's named The Belleville Tower. It has nothing to do with a building that exists in real life, i just imagined the shape and architecture.
On the 1st picture, you can see an overview of the building look. It is not a box shaped building, there are only 2 90 degrees wall angles. other ones are random angles and there will be a curving face (the back of the building). It has 18 floors (for now), for the roof and roof junk, i'll try to come out with something good. I also want to create my own props. Thw building will fit on a 2x2 lot, but it depends how i make the size of the lots with the lot editor.

On the 2nd pic, you can see the top view; the overall shape of the building.
    Clipboard9.jpg

Hope you are interested and i'd like some comments :)

    Thanks Billy bob

    Update

I've got some time to work on it... i added some details to the base... more the entry section...
Next step will be to finish the base and to place some doors on these walls.
    Clipboard13.jpg
i think it starts looking good... But as I say; less is more.

well you still have a long wait before you can see it on the stex. I want it to be perfect, and because i about never experienced the lot editor, and because i still need to ad a lot to the building to be what i want, it might take some time.
    I prefer quality to quantity.

This building has progressed really well and I commend you on making sure your first one is the best it can be. I would keep the current entrance. I really like the whole building so far.

    Keep up the good work!!

thanks for all the positive comments :)

here's an advanced picture of the entrance
    Clipboard15.jpg

next step is doors... wondering what kind i should put... perhaps i'll wait for this and i'll continue modeling the base... only time (and I) will tell.

i will also add some ramps (1 or 3) on the stairs

    Update

Here's a zoomed picture of the entrance...

The 2 doors are in x shape and, of course, they will be more detailed.. mot much, because we wont see 'em much from the point of ingame view.
    Clipboard24.jpg

And an overall view of the entry. The front entrance will look pretty muck like that... I think i've done well to give it a dimension, not to mush flatness...
i'm quite happy with the results.

    Update

I didn't have time to work more on the base yet, but here's a low quality preview render of the front face.
I think it looks rather good, i'd like to see it with some textures, but not yet.i'll start modeling the sides base (left & right), so i will soon be able to close it by the bottom. And then the roof, and then textures, and then more details...

    Clipboard12.jpg

Sill loads of work to do, i'll keep this thread updated often (like i'm doing right now) You can see the progress since the very beginning of the project, and i think it can be interresting. I'd like to have more comments, so you can say what you like and what you dont like, and it would help me improve The Belleville Building.

Everyone that has a link to some textures, i'd like if you could post 'em in that thread (or in a pm if you prefer)

    Hmmm I only see one thing I don't like, on the side of the building there seem to be horizontal supports that look...out of place, here;

Here is a great texture site:

Thanks for noticing, i seen it to, and it is already fixed, And more, there's a roof! (it looks bad, but it's there at last.)
But there's still something that bugs me about the base (the done part(not done at all :-) ))
