Mac NAM Installer is a .exe?

I attempted to download the Mac Network Addon Installer. I checked numerous times to ensure it was indeed the mac version, however the file it downloads is a .exe called something else.

Of course macs don't run this. What am I doing wrong?

I'm playing the SimCity 4 Deluxe version from the app store. I would love NAM because my traffic problems are a mess.

Thank you!

Update, I've tried using stuffit expander, FileJuicer, and Keka to "extract" the .exe file. This ALWAYS results in a number of .dll files. Based on my understanding of the NAM update files, these are not the files I'm looking for.

Ive also read a number of threads on here, but can't seem to find one that addresses this particular issue.

What am I doing wrong? Any thoughts or help would be appreciated. Thanks!

The download of the mac version of the NAM included Installation instructions. These instructions say, that you need to unpack the "NetworkAddonMod Setup 32.1 Mac.7z" and then run the "NAM 32.1 Mac Wrapper.app" application, this will quide you throught the remaining installation.

Oh, that's not what you want--good thing you have a Mac. That file or whatever is something that commonly comes up as an ad when you click on a link that leads to another website. Do not download or install it! It is malware that, from what I've read, makes your downloads "faster" by not downloading the entire file, meaning you have a corrupt file that you downloaded. When you see ads that have that file for download, wait a few seconds and click the Skip Ad button on the top right. Or just download Adblock for your browser so that you never see those stupid ads again.

I've never seen installation instructions. Just the .exe file.

Thanks for your feedback everyone. I think I did it!

I checked in game. I see that I have all new road highway and network options. It looks like all is installed correctly. 2 questions:

    (1) There is a folder in the original install location "~/Documents/SimCity 4/Plugins/Network Addon Mod" called "NAM Auxilary Files." The install directions do not specifically instruct me to move this folder to my actual plugin folder "~/Library/Containers/com.aspyr.simcity4.appstore/Data/Documents/SimCity 4/Plugins" as it did for the "Network Addon Mod" and "z___NAM" folders. Do I also need to move that folder?

    (2) Is there a way to test if the commute mapping protocol is working correctly? I have the new network fixtures, but for some reason I'm paranoid my sims won't commute more intelligently (God knows they were awful at it before).

Glad we could help! Always be careful with what you download and make sure you click the right download link. This is how you avoid malware. :) Anyway, here's my answers to your questions:

    1. The NAM Auxilary Files doesn't need to be in your plugins folder; it contains just the documentation among other things. It doesn't contain any game files, so no need to have it in your plugins folder.

    2. You'll know if your sims are taking a smarter route to work if your highways and mass transit get more utilization (they're considered "faster" networks in the game), even if the sims have to go out of their way to get to them. This will probably not happen immediately, as the pathfinder is only run a few times per game year.
