Invisible water

Hello,

My Windows was destroyed. I had to completely rebuild it. I unfortunately did not have a backup.

However, I did have all files that had been installed to SimCity 4.

So I reinstalled SimCity 4 and put in every single Lot, Dependency, Mod, everything. It took days.

However, I have just started up SimCity 4 again. Put in the Region I wanted. Went into a New City.

Although the region shows the water in the Sea or Lake, when I go into the New City there is no water. Just the bottom of the sea.

If I name the city and do nothing else, just start the New City, name it,  and save it, when I am then in the Region view again it now shows the same thing that I saw in the New City map.

That is no water. Just the bottom of the sea.

I am sure that this is probably a mod, one that I may have downloaded the first time to my SimCity Lots, Dependencies, etc., but never installed. And now that I've rebuilt SimCity 4 and I installed EVERYTHING I had, this turned up where it hadn't before. So this is implying that I've installed something that I hadn't the first time. But it might be something else.

Strangely, I've searched on "invisible water", "no water in the Sea", "no water in Region, City", everything I can thing of. And there has been no discussion about this.

Which leads me to think that I am missing something very obvious.

Any ideas?

You might have a height mod in your plugins somewhere. You could trying looking for a file named '1000m.dat' or some other number. There is also one named 'import.dat' that could cause the terrain to be elevated. Also, the Diagonal Bridge Enabler plugin could create that effect if it's in the Plugins folder. It was not designed to permanently reside in the plugins. Removing these types of files, if present, should eliminate the effect.

    Thank you very much CaptCity!

I was not able to find any file with a simple number. I was not able to find any file such as "import". However, I did find Diagonal Bridge Enabler.

I removed this along with Diagonal Bridge Enable Locale english.

Once this was done, I then had water that was visible, but it was extremely low in volume, barely a puddle. Also, it was absolute black. See the second attached .png file called Fairview 1409512078.  This picture is the region view and doesn't indicate the low water level that is seen when in the City map.

However, since CaptCity got me started I worked on trying to isolate the plugin that was doing this.

It turned out to be the absolute last .dat in my plugins. It was "zzz_JENXMODS_POSEIDON_Grey_Blue_Water_HD.dat

I now have a regularly filled sea with the correct blue color.

    Thanks again to CaptCity!

Ah yes, the Poseidon mod. While it provides some awesome effects, it does require care when using. I've not experienced the issues you seem to have had, but it might have been some side effect to something else - maybe using the DBE at the same time...
