Is Mac on par with Windows?

Hi Guys,

My windows computer has died, so no more sim city. I have a mac and wondering if its worth getting it on mac. Is there any differences? Can i still download add ons? Can i still use cheats?

In short yes, however......

Many mac users have had issues getting the game to work & also getting some custom content to work. If it were me, for SC4 I'd stick with windows if you want thee least issues (not to say there isn't any).

IM not going to buy a windows computer just for sim city. I have a mac... Been looking at wineskin... Perhaps this is the option for me

Your best bet is Wineskin, otherwise running under Windows XP in either Parallels or VMWare.

 

I've posted a fair amount of information in the various threads in this subforum; is a good place to start.

 

I've been successful at getting SC4 to run quite well under Wineskin.  The only real drawbacks I've found are that I can't run in hardware mode (so no HD textures/terrain mods/etc.) and for whatever reason  work.  On the other hand, with various winetricks I've been able to get most Maxis and community authored utility apps to work, including DAMN, ExtraCheats.dll, Reader, Lot Editor, DatPacker, etc.

Just download the Steam version (it works fine) and download the Mac version of NAM 32.

 

The only noticeable difference is the file cap on mods, preventing larger mods from working right if at all.
