Zone colour in region transportation view

I wasn't really sure where to post this so I assumed here would be best. I've made many searches and couldn't find any topics similar to my problem.

I recently got SC4 off Steam because my original CDs are on the fritz. I uninstalled from the CD and installed from Steam. Now the zone colour in my regional transportation view is really ugly in cities I've played since the Steam install.

Is there any way to get the original zone colour back?

I've already tried copying the file RealHighway_Regional_Transportation_Map.dat and put it into a folder called zzzz in my My Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins folder AND in my Steam\steamapps\common\SimCity Deluxe 4\Plugins folder to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

There is an option associated with the NAM that you need to turn off having to do with displaying RHW roads.  I don't have that to hand, or I could tell you more exactly.

I should have clarified a bit more. I've only ever used the transportation view mod that comes with the NAM. The only thing that's changed is going from a CD install to a Steam install, so I'm assuming this has to do with the colour the Steam version displays the zones.

The original zone colour, the one I want back is the light-greenish zone colour that doesn't look too far off from the terrain colour. The bright sandy colour is the new zone colour, this one is changing each city as I play and save. Is there anyway for me to get the original zone colour back?

Now that is interesting.  AFAIK, the Steam version is identical with the regular download version that I have (1,1,641) and I don't notice this change at all.  I wonder could the Steam start up be interfering with your GPU in some way?  Here is something to try:

Find the executable.  Double click on it to start the game and see what you get then.  If this problem goes away, it is something in the Steam set up.

If there is no joy here, then I'd suggest a dxdiag run and see what your GPU is up to.  You might check the settings and make sure that, for the game, all the 3D settings are off and try it then.
