Project: Auto-Rebuild mod

Tired of destroying those rubbles and abandoned buildings manually, here is a good project for the modders. I'm proposing two ways for doing this automatically:

In the game, Buildings have 4 status:

- In construction

- Normal

- Rubble

- Abandoned

Mod #1 In the spirit of the game

Here are the suggested rules:

- There is a Public Work building hidden in the game. I think it was available in BOC. Not sure there is code attach to it. Add the public work building in the RCI section or the bulldozer section as a ploppable object

- This public work building will have his own "City Rebuilding manager" car. Maybe add the possibility to put multiple City Rebuilding Manager cars to the building (up to 4).

- This building will be available only if you put the "Public Services" government to your city hall

- When the rubble and/or abandoned icon is/are trigger in the bulldozer section, it will call for the "City Rebuilding Manager" to go to the first rubble or adandoned building in the list and change the state of the building.

- If the building is a plopable object, it will change the building back to his normal state immediatly because they don't have a construction phase.

- If the building is a RCI building,  it will change the status to "In construction". This will change the building to a construction zone, which will call for the construction truck to come and rebuild the building. Try to rebuild the same building as before.

- The City Rebuilding Manager will go to the next building in the list (rubble first, abandoned second) until all the buildings are done

- The City Rebuilding Manager will return to the public work building when there are no more buildings to rebuild.

Suggestion: We can used the dump for the building and the dump truck to read the lists and send the car to the building as if it was to pick up the garbage. Everything we need are already in the game, It is just a matter of mixing all of them to create this mod.

Also, maybe we can make this new building a regional one and add it to the regional menu to be able to send the City Rebuilding Manager car to other cities.

Advantage: after the Public work building is plop, you have nothing to do to rebuild the buildings.

Desadvantage: more work for the modders to create

Mod #2 Instant rebuilding

- create a new object call "Rebuilding" that will simply change back the state of ALL the rubbles and abandoned building(s) (RCI and plopable) to the normal state without doing the destruction process.

- This special rebuilding object will be added to the bulldozer section. The icon can be the construction workers in action or the construction truck. This section is the only one without icons in it. I don't know If we can add icons in the section.

Advantage: all the buildings will be done in one click. Less work for the modders (i think)

Desadvantage: You have to click manually the icon to execute the order to rebuild.

Hint: I just learn that a 20 minutes timer is tied to the Simcity Park server. Maybe we can use this timer to execute code automatically.

Both solutions can be created. Players will decide which one they want to use.

Myself,  I prefer mod #1, I like seeing buildings being rebuild, it brings life to the city.

Mod #2 will be faster with no reconstruction process.

Questions to Devs/modders:

- Can we add icons in the bulldozer section?

- For a RCI zoned building, If we change the state of a building from rubble/abandoned to "in construction", will it rebuild the same building or the engine will build a new one?

-see if you can use the 20 minutes timer to automatically execute codes in the game. Maybe we will have to tie it to a building (Public Work)

Theses rules are not set in stone, I'm just starting the ball to roll. Everything will depend on what can be done with the engine and the codes in place.

Have fun!!

Pinky!

I love this idea!  For me, bulldozing is a part of the game I would like to go away!

we asked for a plop that would have a city beautification and restoration feature.. the plop could be made but the rules are what hold us back currently .

IDEA however is 100% sound and needed

Auto demolish also sounds reasonable in this thread.

like CTRL + Demolish all abandoned buildings only. etc, just an idea.

CTRL + Demolish EVERYTHING!!!! And then launch a meteor with 100% guaranteed radiation.
