Pricing Advice for Selling Legos

Hi guys and gals. I am thinking about selling my collection of Legos that I have accumulated over the years, but I don't know how much they're worth. If any of you are Lego aficionados, I would appreciate your advice so I don't get ripped off on Craigslist.

I have two large plastic bins containing Lego pieces in a variety of sizes, as well as some various Bionicle and Technic parts. I also have an assortment of minifigure parts and accessories that can create around 60 minifigures, some from brands such as Indiana Jones, Spongebob Squarepants, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Star Wars. The one bin is around 21"x15"x5" and the other is about 16"x10"x7". I don't know how much either of the bins weigh with the Legos inside or how many pieces I have in total, but both containers are nearly full. I also have 2 16x32 plates, one tan and the other white, a 32x32 green plate, and a 48x32 fort/mountain-like plate from an Indiana Jones set. Here are some pictures of the minifigures and bins:

Thanks for your help. :)

I am not, nor over have been, a Lego user.  However,  let me suggest that you should not expect much.  Your best bet would be to get a table at a games event, and see what you can get.

Unless you have complete sets, and they are very rare, there's not much of a specific Lego market.  They get sold by the pound.  Some very hasty research told me the average price is roughly $5 per pound.  Look at Ebay, see what they are going for.  I'm sure the price varies drastically.  Just try to sell them for as much as possible, keep lowering it as needed.

I have about 45 pounds that I need to get rid of some time.  They don't quite fit into two bins that are 24" x 15" x 18"

I really wish I had a scale. Knowing how much the Legos weigh would make this process a lot easier.

There is not much synergy for Lego. Suggest you spin off some content for a more favorable pricing strategy.

Alright, here's an update: After borrowing a scale from my neighbor, I determined that the weight of the Lego pieces themselves is about 30 lbs. Based on the average cost per pound of Legos, $5-7 (source), I asked $200 for the pieces and base plates. Then, for the minifigure parts, I asked $15. Since the Mindstorms Intelligent brick has a busted screen, I asked $75 for all the parts and software (which I think is too low considering the parts themselves cost about $310 new). So, in total, I asked $290. The buyer responded with a counteroffer of $250. Is that reasonable, considering I'm selling the Mindstorms parts, too? Do you think I could make more selling the parts separately?

Your money is spent.  Total value to you sitting in your house is zero.  Take what you can get.

Split the difference and go $270. That's reasonable consider that they are well loved and used, and a good way to get rid of something you don't use for some quick cash.

Thanks for your help, guys. I followed your advice, Yoshi, and asked for $270, and the buyer agreed.

I was going to suggest bricklink.com, but it seems it's too late.

Better hope you didn't sell any rare minifigs in that. There are some types of ghosts and skeletons that are worth hundreds.

I don't think I had anything rare. I know there weren't any ghost minifigs, but I had some regular white skeletons.
