Those who study war should probably go see one.  How about a trip to beautiful Aleppo, Syria?

I have already my plan made. Will spend a couple of days in Vilnius, Lithuania, visiting a friend. After that, I will spend 5 days in St. Petersburg, also doing tourism and seeing friends of mine. Later, back to Berlin. A couple of days later, I will head to Barcelona to spend a couple of weeks at my parents' and with my friends over there. It's gonna be a great Summer!

Have fun in Petersburg.  Say hello to the cats in the Hermitage.

Well, the ad agencies up here spout a lot of nonsense about Christmas in July about now.  Currently, I am sitting in a strong flow from an air multiplier, and it is warm to the touch, but evaporates the moisture on my skin so I feel cool.  One of Dyson's smarter gadgets.

As you enter high summer at Christmas time, I assume you don't have snow men and all that guff.

Of course not :P

Although once it did snow at my place on Christmas Day but that was a rare occurrence.

I really do not like the hot, humid summers here where I live, but once you're up in the mountains, like, the ACTUAL mountains, not these little "mountain-ettes" we have here in Izu, it gets really quite nice.  Karuizawa is one of the best places I've visited during a Japanese summer.  Of course, any of the local beaches are nice.  But if I was to say my favorite of all time, it would be Michigan's Upper Peninsula, no contest.  Nature, few tourists (although there are some, of course), cool temperatures, Lake Superior and Lake Michigan, nature...  It is the most underrated place in all the States.

The beach is nice, but I can only take so much sun and salt water before I want to go into hibernation.  I now understand why my parents were always so exhausted after a Florida vacation.

If I were able to go on a summer jaunt, I would choose Madeline Island, WI.  The Yacht Club there runs a charter service into Lake Superior, and I've done it once, but would like a repeat.  Superior is always cold water just a skin below the surface, and it can be very refreshing for a quick dip.  Saliling on Superior is almost like on the ocean, swells and all.

I always preferred doing interesting things locally. You don't have to be well-off to afford a day trip, and sometimes you can do cooler more active things because you know what to expect.

Central Texas has numerous lakes. The water is cool and somewhat clear, and they have rocky bottoms. In between Austin and San Antonio are the San Marcos and Comal rivers. They are spring-fed. It's like being in a very long (and crowded) swimming pool that moves you downstream. I used to live a block from the former; literally went once or twice a week to just chill.

Once my family drove all the way to Colorado just to see the mountains. I never was for hiking though. But....there was a tiny bit of snow at the top of Loveland Pass on(or more accurately, above) I-70. It's like nature is air conditioned!

Summer? Brrr, it's winter down here!

But the best summer place I've been to was a cruise with the family to Vanuatu.

Love cruises. I`ve been cruising four times and it was unforgettable.

Last year I made it to two places on my bucket list: St. John and Peggy's Cove.  Things are pretty well covered now, as I won't be doing any more travel by air.

I'm going to Chicago in a couple weeks.

Can't call that a "favorite", though, as I haven't ever been there before.

Which is kind of the point. Who wants to waste their vacation time doing stuff they've done already?

I'm not going anywhere this summer. That makes me sad. I'll continue to dream in the meantime.
