Hello everyone. I appreciate all the help you have given me over the last couple of days44.gif

I yet again have another problem I am unable to resolve on my own34.gif
I am trying to make some water lots with transparent base textures but it's not looking right.
I am using Ardecila's Torii building's LOT but it ends up looking like this:
<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Test.jpg align=baseline>

1> represents Ardecila's LOT.  see how it looks transparent44.gif
2> is my attempt at it. Notice underneath the LOT8.gif
I am using props. The building I'm using for the LOT is an underwater beach bit.

I then did a search and found if I changed the Instance number to 0x00000000 it would make the LOT Base Texture Transparent46.gif
However the explanation given seems to be for more advanced Editors than myself. Can someone explain it in laymens terms?
Here are a couple of pics from Ilive with the file I'm working on. I don't know if this will help or not, but I'll put them in anyway20.gif

Sorry if this isn't all the info you need to help me out43.gif But I'll be happy to provide you with any info you need29.gif Keep in mind I'm a newbie with Ilive43.gif
Thanks very much for your help my good friends44.gif

I can suggest a really good place to get the answer for this.  You may already know of it, Pegasus support site.  He deals with stuff all the time, and you are more apt to get a prompt, accurate answer.  Try it, you'll like it.

Steve - I belive all that you need to do is open the lot up in LE.  Identify the iid number for the base texture you want to make transparent.  Then open the lot up in the reader and click on the lot exemplar.  You will need to identify which of the entries on the right are for that base texture.  There should be only one and then change that iid number you pulled from the LE to 0x00.  This is kind of the down and dirty explanation....please keep in mind that I have only tried this once so I am no pro at it.

I wonder if you could open up one of PEG's transparent lots and use that as a base to work from....

    Good Luck.

Hey Dan my friend. I never thought about using Pegs Transparent LOT37.gif

    I'll give it a try44.gif
    Thanks mate for the advice19.gif
EDIT. Hey Dan. No it didn't work. Peg must have done something special to create a LOT without a base. I have posted the same question over on his site. Hopefully I'll get a response.9.gif
You mentioned something about identifying which value in the exempler file is for the Base Texture. Do you know how I could find that out?
    Thanks44.gif

Steve, i just made a couple of screenshots to show you how I do it.  I am assuming you already have the id number of the base texture.  So with that being done open up the reader and click on the lot exemplar.  In this pic I have moved everything to the left so that the entire window is viewable.

I went into LE and chose a small playground, saved it as DH_TEST and wrote down the base texture id.  In this case it was 0x25d60000.

I then looked through the LotConfigPropertyLotObjectData entries trying to find the id number I needed.  BTW, it should be the last rep for whichever object it is in.

I have circled the number below...

    Yourhttp://www.imgcity.net/server/primary//help1.jpg border=1 name=Your uploaded image img href=http://www.imgcity.net/server/primary/help1.jpg target=_blank>

I then double clicked that line and the edit window popped up:

Here I have also circled the number I am looking for.  I changed that number to 0x00 clicked the Apply button on the right of the screen and then the Apply button on the bottom, saved the overall file in reader, exited out and tested it out in game.

I did work to my amazement.

    Good luck my friend.

    Hey Dan my good friend.

Thanks for going through all of that work mate. I appreciate it. I worked for a few hours last night (instead of going to work43.gif, I'm pulling a double on Sunday evening to make it up9.gif) on it and came to the conclusion that transparent base textures don't work with props very well28.gif. I know that a transparent water lot like number 1 above will work for some buildings though. I got one of Deadwoods new park pieces to work as number 1 perfectly.44.gif I have certainly learned alot over the past few days19.gif I want to thank you, tungston and Andreas Roth for helping me out with this44.gif
    Take care pal19.gif
