It is a week late, but I only found out myself today that surrealist Swiss artist H. R. Giger passed away last week on May 12th.

H. R. Giger, Artist Who Gave Life to "Alien" Creature, Dies at 74

He is best known as the artistic designer behind the title monster of the movie "Alien," which disturbed and scared generations of movie watchers.  His otherworldly eerie "Pilot" sculpture used in the movie was burned in an act of arson by religious zealots fearing that it was actually the work of the Devil.  "Prometheus," though not as good a movie, was visually practically set inside a Giger painting.  Frank Herbert's science fiction epic "Dune" was almost put to film using designs from Giger...the Tleilaxu would have loved him!

Lambert was the only one with common sense in "Alien" when she first laid eyes on this thing:  "...Let's get out of here..."

Before there were Borg, before there were reimagined Cylons, we had Giger's twistedly sexual Biomechanoids and ghoulish Necronomicons.  The things they looked like they would do to you...eeek!

Macabre, morbid, fetishistic, and often outright pornographic, this was also the stuff of visionary other worlds.  We may not understand the bizarre design of the "alien derelict," but it was brilliantly suggested that there was an intelligence behind it, and that intelligence was completely alien.

Remember what the Sarge says if you find yourself wandering inside the dark and slimy corridors of one of these:  "Nobody touch nothing!"

Thanks for all the nightmares.

RIP H.R. Giger. The xenomorph is THE most iconic alien out there.

Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage
