LANDMARKS MOD REQUEST

Please make it so that you can plop more than one of the SAME landmark into your city.

    It would for some of the landmarks.  Wish there were more choices of landmarks to choose from as well.

    If a modder can create the Unisphere and add it to the game, then just copy the existing landmarks and, add it to the game and let there be 3 or 4 of each to choose from.  Just my thoughts on it.

    It's not this simple. It's hard-coded. It's been told to me by MaxisGuillaume. There's nothing I can do unless Maxis/EA allows us to go in and edit code. I'm sorry :/

    But surely as a workaround it's possible to clone a landmark and add it to the game again, but do it in a way that the game thinks it's a completely separate building. Say for example the windmill, if it was there in the menu twice (original and clone) then we would be able to plop 2 of them. Isn't that the point of offline mode? To be able to add new things to the game, even if they are clones of existing buildings?

     

    But apart from all that, it's obvious that maxis made some very very strange decisions while making this game. :lost:

    That was my thinking elemental, to clone the buildings themselves, and re-add as a separate building.

    Actually... with the cloning thing, the game would recognize it as the same landmark :) and would not allow you to plop the landmark.

    You believe correctly. Where can I find the mod to do that?

     

    Sorry had to go out for a bit. I am still working out a way to get it released as for some reason taking it out of the scriptspack and into its own pack - it doesnt want to play nice and work. Don't want to release a mod that hogs a direct modification of the scriptspack

    Please read the ReadMe.txt before installing.

    • You will need to copy the latest/current SimCity-Scripts_XXXXXXXX.package (SimCity-Scripts_287520926 currently) from SimCity\SimCityUserData\EcoGame\ into SimCity\SimCityUserData\Packages
    • This should be compatible with most mods that have you do the similar steps above (I believe for example Parkers casino overhaul gets you to do a similar thing, except he provides the package in his rar)
      • Let me know if there are any incompatibility issues, I'll be looking at a neater way to having this work.

    I tried to do this :) but it never worked out for me. The mod just wouldn't work in the game. Good work, ProcsKalone :D

    So someone got it to work.  Why not post this mod in the ST/Exchange Forum?  I can't get it to download from the site you posted it on.

    I can use multiple landmarks now but I get the following.  Secondary error, can't destroy landmarks once placed.

    Whoohoo!   After installing the mod, carefully place your landmarks.  You won't be able to bulldoze the landmarks.   Remove the mod.  Go back into the offline game, the landmarks are still there but "closed" by the mayor.  You can now bulldoze and open the additional landmarks, but no more multiple plops.

    You don't need it. I uninstalled your mod before I tried this one (sorry about that... :lol: ) just in case they might conflict and mess up my region. Proc's mod gives you a total of 30 landmarks just like your's does. Afterall, he let's you plop 10 of the same landmark so having a limit of only 3 landmarks wouldn't make much sense. :)

     

    But thanks for doing your original mod, cap. We might not have got this one if you hadn't started things rolling in this direction. :)

    Just a headsup, the brokenoverlay thing also (besides possible conflict of another mod) may happen if you don't do the step that involves copying the latest simcityscripts over to the packages folder, but since you mentioned you did its most likely a conflict.
