Airport Placement

will a neighboring city feel the affects if the int'l airport is placed in a neighboring tile?  my main city tile is full up and I don't want to waste space putting the airport there, but I want to generate high rises and need the airport to do it.

 

the tile with the black outline is the main city tile and the tile in red is where I want to put the airport, the yellow circle indicating the exact spot.

 

my region is loosely based on the mpls/st. paul area in Minnesota and the real life airport is far from the main city area.

 

the main city is still a work in progress and I have yet to start working on the CBD...but this is what I have so far.

 

would this location work and help with the development of the high rises in the main tile?

Placing a Maxis airport in a neighbouring city will have barely no effect in your main city. In-game airports don't transport actual passengers, but they rise commercial and demand caps in the city tile they are placed on. 

 

It is always recommendable, however, to develop the adjacent tiles to your main city. The effect of these neighbours increases the demands of the main city. Anyways, if I were you, I would place the airport in the main tile.

 

As a solution to your problem, you can download this This small lot is a 1x1 plaza, which acts like an airport. This means, it will release these caps and increase your internal demand, thus you will have those high-rises more easily.

So both dependacies are still needed for that Airport tram? If so then where does one find the " Airport Support File"? It's locked on here and it isn't on Sc4devotion either.
