Questions about University

I have a university in my city, and a population of about 70k. On the info menu it says 800 people can attend, to start a research project it says it needs 1000 in a day. I placed all 3 dorms near the university and the 800 didn't go up, but it now says that around 850 people attend my university in a day.

How do I do this? I need to start a research project.

Demolish all your grade school, high school and colleges. You won't need them after you have a university.

You need to increase your population so you get more college kids :) then you'll be able to do that research project.

well, this is my first successful city. The taxes are low, im in red, but the recycle and processors and the space station is making me more profit. Problem is, that I have certain areas with buildings with ground pollution. No room to build. people are leaving, because they say my taxes are to high, even though im in red.

Im not sure how to do it. The arcology project is started, wont receive and recources, and my electronics hq wont level up because the highest processors I can sell per day is around 500k, and I need 1.5mill.

I havnt researched the mega towers yet because I want to enable fusion reactor and research clean energy ahead of time, before I start any more cities.

Keep in mind, the University has classes 4 times a day (I think it's 4) so when it says 800 students, it means 800 can be taught at each class time. Watch the University with the education overlay on, you will see morning class students come, sit through class, then leave as new students come in to take the afternoon classes and so forth.

EDIT: A note about the dorms, they act as housing for your students, not as actual classroom seats. They allow your students to effectively leave the residential areas and live there instead, which means they don't have to commute and sit in traffic on the way to class.

The 800 classroom seats come from the main round University building, and each additional school you build (School of Science, School of Medicine, etc) will increase the seating capacity by 500.

I am curious, was the city built in online or offline mode? If it is in online mode, it is possible for us to look up your account and view your city. We would need your origin ID and the name of the city in question. This is possible because the regions are saved to a cloud, unlike offline mode which saves locally.

By the sound of it, you might not be taxing your sims accordingly. You said that your taxes are low but they're complaining about high taxes. To avoid complaints regarding taxes, do the following: tax low wealth 12%, medium wealth 11% and high wealth 10% across the board. Setting the tax rates at these levels will neither make them happy nor sad. If you tax them more than that it will have a negative affect on happiness, they'll begin complaining, and eventually move out of town.

If you want your hourly to get out of the red, consider austerity. Tighten the belt and figure out which services your city can cut back on, and which ones are actually needed.

To help with the sale of processors you can try one of three things.

    (A) Ensure that the trade depot that exports processors is close enough to the factory and that there is minimal traffic for the delivery trucks to negotiate.

    (B) Build another processor factory with all modules and ensure that it is near the trade depot that exports processors.

© Dedicate an additional trade depot or more to import then export processors until you reach your daily sales quota. This option is great if you have money to spare.

It sounds like your region has more than one great works site. You can only supply your local great works site with resources via roads. I believe to supply another great works site you will need a connection via rail or port, depending upon the layout of the region.

Mega towers do not have to be researched. You can build them so long as you have the funds and the space to build them.

I hope you've found this post to be helpful. Good luck!

I only had 2 cities when that problem occurred. I decided to put it on hold and start claiming more land.

I tried out new road and avenue patterns and I made a 3x3 square with each square being a avenue square, so 9 of those and then turned those into a 3.3 square. And put a academy in the middle. 6 are residential and 2 are commercial.

The problem is it says the Density is to low.

I can draw a road between each one of those squares and divide those into 4 sections.

But then the buildings don't have the maximum area to build for the avenue towers.

    But the density won't increase.

    Any ideas?

When you're laying out avenues and roads and want to make sure your zones can fully grow in density to medium and high, try using the 'row' park tool as a guide since it's spacing is right for that.
