Suddenly nearly no low wealth tourists

I've had a gambling city going for a few days now and was noticing that I always had tons of low wealth tourists walking around as I didnt have the capacity for them. Of course I placed a few cheap casinos and that was that. Now I suddenly have no low wealth tourists and an abundance of medium wealth. (Probably the same as before, not sure) As nice as that sounds, that means the Stadium and Expo center cant fill, and overall the casinos arent doing that well. I have 2 train stations, streetcar, bus w/ P&R, and obviously an airport. None of them are off. The main station that used to carry about 70k people a day is now under 10k.

Any idea why?

Ok. Trains - you cannot rely on them. I would like to have another screenshot from your population table, showing the different wealth classes of your tourists. You have to build something that attracts low wealth tourists if you actually want them. I could think about you, upgrading your casinos to higher levels. That would result in no low wealth tourists ;)

Please do the screenshot :P

edit >>> i see you also have sci-fi casinos so you should attract low wealth tourists as well. Your traffic seems to be ok so far, only minor issues?

Hi! To start thanks for your help and the quick reply!

Second - I "restarted" the city to see if that would help. By that I mean turning of all mass transporation and all casinos for about 12 hours (Any longer and I'd run out of money). It seems to have helped somewhat. I found this to be needed on another tourism city, where the trains stopped coming and I had to occasionally leave them off for a few hours and restart them.

Third, I actually meant to have the tourism data overlay on but stupidly had commercial on. Doh.

Here are two more pictures that I think are what you are asking for:

    k9Sctyn.png

    U7rHJTy.png

Note: Bar graphs are not to scale -- so there really arent that many low wealth tourists.

So I actually wrote the wrong thing before. I never had an abundance of low wealth toursists. It was actually that the Stadium event was filling up in the medium side of things, but had a lot of room on the low wealth (Still, about 75-90% capacity!). So I responded by making a bunch of Sci-Fi casinos with Disco Clubs (+4312 low wealth tourists attracted per day). However it seemed to just make things worse as none of them were able to reach significant capacity of low wealth tourists. They simply "disappeared". As you can see, the Sleek Casinos are having a hard time even getting a dozen low wealth tourists to gamble.

Yes the traffic around the tourism area is (surprisngly) quite good. Most of the issues are rush hour and those roads are seperate from the tourist roads. (Honestly, mostly luck, I didnt plan it THAT well :P)

--- The biggest giveaway that something is wrong, is that for many days and events, the Expo Center was full. Never less than max profit. Now its only about 40-60% of max profit, because a lack of low wealth attendance.

I meant the population overview details tab. Click on your population. There you click on details. Scroll down and make a screen of your tourists. Not the data layer :P

Ahh, never knew that existed :P

I think this shows its not a transportation issue?

Appears the city is completely broke now. Now I cant get any medium or low wealth tourists. Absolutely no changes to anything, game is just broken.

You seem to have a lack in low and in high wealth tourists. Could you observe this? In my city i noticed fluctuations in tourist numbers. I think the best would be to observe this a full year. While you have such numbers you should only have med wealth casinos.

edit >>> You should deactivate the stadium! (i think)

Turns out it was the trains breaking again. After an hour of fiddling around to get the time to go by, and turning the train stations off for an hour (best I could do), now there are medium wealth tourists. Pretty annoying that trains break so frequently. (No tourists come on the trains)

High wealth are lacking but that is fine by me, I dont have an air balloon station or a ferry system (no water, and I dont have the air balloon expansion) which are pretty much required for any significant amount of HW Tourists.

Low wealth is the issue, as it should be at least 20k. I tried placing a Sci Fi casino with max number of Disco Clubs and it didnt increase the # of LW tourists at all.

I will try deactivating the system after I get enough money in reserves in case of another "emergency".

Again I wouldnt mind having no low wealth tourists, but it means each Sleek Casino loses ~$1,250/hr in max profit due to lack of low wealth toursists, and the events at the expo center and stadium are only able to make about 75% of max profit on a good day (Because the attendance is tiered, an event might have 7500 max low wealth tourists, 7500 max medium wealth toursists, 15000 max attendance -- so I can only get about 10k.

Unfortunately that didnt work. It actually hurt (Mostly med. wealth)

I also tried placing a second Stadium but it didnt help any more than 1 does.

On top of that, I finished building the "International Airport" Great Work. What a useless thing it is. No tangible increase in tourists.

I hope you know that the numbers for tourists take some time to raise/lower - everything you do should be what you want to do in long term, not short term. Unfortunately i think i can't help you - maybe another one has a solution for you ;)

It seems pretty instantaneous from what I've seen. Disabling the stadium over 1 day halved my tourist numbers. Placing it again and its almost back up to where it was the other day. (Otherwise its quite stable around 80k)

Thanks for your help anyway! I think the city is just broke.

After looking at your city it looks as though you have lots of medium wealth buildings in your city. That could explain the sudden influx of medium wealth tourists to your casinos. I have noticed that whenever I tried to make a gambling city that I always needed lots of tax revenue to keep it going so I would raise taxes. If I made low wealth taxes really low, all of a sudden low wealth sims would start to show up again.

Also whenever I place a train depot I always connect it to high density streetcar roads and I have a stop as close to the train station as possible. I'm not sure if you wanna tear your city up to try that out. To be honest I have never been able to get a gambling city to be sustainable. The closest thing I had was one city where I had a strip of highway with parking lots and at least four ferries, maybe more. There were ferries on either side of the highway though. It was awesome because almost all my sims that came to that area of town walked almost the entire four blocks of land that it covered. Eventually the cost of all this was too much and I abandoned the city.
