Simcity 2013 Freezes and stays frozen with different colored screens

Hello

 

Playing Simcity 2013 in a brand new city makes the game frozen about 5-10 minutes into the game. I leave it pretty much idle and like I said, 5-10 minutes in it suddenly freezes with a colored screen and I have to manually start.

 

Updated graphics drivers just in case but nothing.

 

Any ideas?

Are you playing on Windows 8? Windows 8 has been known to cause many problems when it comes to playing a game on it.
