Hi guys,

I am having a lot of problems with conflicting files (tree controllers, terrain not completely rendering in region mode) and annoying dependancy problems. I want to spend a little time this Christmas fixing up my pluggins folder! (yay, fun!) I was wondering if anyone had some insight or suggestions on how I might go about doing this. I want to get rid of some older files that are not at current quality and a few outlier building downloads that do not fit my building style. I also want to uninstall and get rid of all tree controllers ect. so that the new ones work.

So I know there are downloads out there to manage files and I'd love to hear which ones are the best. I would also like to know if there is a cleanitall tool or something that can uninstall certain types of mods or all mods so I can start over properly.

Thanks guys you rock! Everyones two cents welcome.

Well, you could try cleanitol, but I don't think it does exactly what you want.  You could also try Rivit's SC4DataNode program which finds conflicts and maps your plugins.

To save yourself from a disaster, why not create an alternate account on your machine, initialize the game (you don't need to reinstall), then work on your new Plugin suite there.  In Windows the game is universally installed for all users.  I have to create a new wine prefix if I want to do that kind of testing.

SC4DataNode can ferret out the duplications.  That's what I use.

Data node is good to perform an audit, but obviously you need more than that to solve your various plugins problems.

If I were you I wouldn't bother with file management programs. Takes lot of time, ends with poor results.

Start fresh and rebuild eveything from scratch. You'd be surprised how fast you can tackle that task... even moreso when you're familiarized with the various exchanges sites and know what you're looking for

I tend to agree with this.  I do mine manually with an occasional pass of cleanitol.  My plugins with the new NAM 32 Beta is getting close to 1 GB now, and things are getting a little slower.  However, I make every effort to stay lean and mean.

Thanks everyone! This is beyond helpful!  :) I think I'll start fresh and just use the cleanitall for everything. The tip about the new window user account is brilliant too, I might do that. My pluggins are well beyond a gig, definately need to cut the fat.
