How can I reduce traffic's impact on farms?

I've been struggling with this. I have Sc4 Deluxe with both SPAM and NAM, and I cannot find any mods that will reduce the desirability hit farms take from traffic while being compatible with both. Is there any way I can change this?

The main problems with the farms losing desirability from traffic is the heavier pollution the traffic causes.

1. Move the farms elsewhere to less polluted areas of your city and away from main roads. "Rural" comes to mind. If they're being hit by pollution and heavy traffic, then then they're probably too close to your city and you should build farms further away and develop over your polluted farms.

2. If your city population is over 60,000 and starting to really shift toward mid/high-wealth offices and industry then it's likely I-A has dwindling demand.

3. Re-route your traffic flows or upgrade roads.

4. Download some pollution-fighting mods like the Pollution Ionizer.

I assuming you use SPAM. If you familiar with the reader, you can adjust SPAM_Mod_Main. Look for "Traffic Effect" found under General>Developer>Industrial Resource. If you using default Maxis farms, you can use It removes traffic impact on farm entirely.

Quote from spa's Farm Desirability MOD (incompatible with SPAM) comment section:

when you say doesn't work with SPAM

Well, the SPAM mod already considers this issue - traffic does not cause dilapidation (or much less than the defaults)... in other words - if you already play with SPAM, you don't need this mod. So this is definitly a very good addition for folks who play agricultural settings, but for some reason don't use the SPAM (SimPeg Agricultural Mod)...

Exactly! It's another tool in the kit for people. My solution was to tweak the parameters so that farming is no longer affected by traffic at all. Since low levels of traffic, in the default game, increase desirability, I had to increase the base desirability for agriculture to compensate (when I firest eliminated traffic I didn’t catch that and made farming undesirable absolutely everywhere). To try and not make it too easy, I slightly increased the negative impact of air pollution on farms. So if you end up with several thousand cars on a rural road, the air pollution from the cars will cause dilapidation. A player, however, can use the automobile emissions ordinance or the clean air ordinance to actually deal with this dilapidation which is makes a heck of a lot more sense than moving all farms six tiles off main roads. My mod differs a bit from the other options available, like SPAM or the CAM. Both of those mods keep the Maxis relationship between desirability and traffic volumes intact. The CAM mirrors the default game and the SPAM brings desirability down to about zero when there are high volumes, but keeps it as a positive factor. The little chart below, made by Jmeyers during the internal BSC testing process, shows farming desirability at different traffic levels.

As you can see by the zeros on the Farm Desirability column, traffic is a non-factor in my mod. All three mods will tweak the game, this is just one more option for the tool box and probably one that will be especially useful for those who want to farm without getting into larger more game altering mods like CAM and SPAM.

This is old, I know, but I did what Ro Bo suggested. It made the desirability go down elsewhere, while the avenues and roads stayed the same. Anyone have any other suggestions?
