Hello everybody!

 

I picked up the BAT again, cuz let's be honest: SC4 is still THE city builder around, kind of a shame after all this time but whatever.

I'm working on something simple now to get back into the groove. I'll make some northeastern USA W2W models. For now just two residential townhouses but I'd like to do some urban civics as well.

Suggestions are highly welcome :-) Anyway here is the first preview of the first BAT:

 

 

It's not based on any real buildings, I just tried to achieve a NYC/Philadelphiaish kind of vibe without caring much about architectural eras and stuffs, also it's not final yet, I'm open for criticism :-)

It's a great start! I especially like the fact you used a street address on the yellow home. I suggest you tone down on the coloring on the roof and make it seem very weathered. and maybe some roof junk that would fit well with the buildings.

You? Is it really YOU? "The" Erdmoebel? Creator of many great Berlin buildings? Holy cow, what an unexpected comeback!

 

So now it's US houses, eh? They're sure looking good so far. I just think that everything looks a bit squashed - doors and windows appear to be very wide, but not very tall. Oh, and if you imagine how those chimneys would continue down the building, they don't really make any sense at all. I guess the best position for them would be at either side, parallel to the side wall.

Hi! Thanks for your suggestions, the roof textures really are a pain in the... behind, don't know why but the internet ran out of seamless textures :-P Allright here's another:

 

This is the first draft of an urban police station. This is not a replica but drew inspiration from a "modern" extension of the 26th precinct, Upper Manhattan. It's gonna be a corner W2W building and suit cities in a lot of geographical regions.

 

 

I'm no radio buff so no idea if that's the equipment they'd use, maybe someone has a little more insight. Also I'll add a lot more stuff to the roof of course.

 

I'd gladly release my upcoming stuff under the NYBT banner but I'm not doing replicas, so I leave that to you if you'd have me.

 

Suggestions are welcome as always =)

Where have you been? Glad to see you back and hopefully you'll stay this time.

 

I am not an expert in Radiostations neither, but I found some pictures where it shows some standard equipment of these. Maybe that helps. BTW, Great idea to create a Radio station, we only have 2 of them I think.

It's going to be a police station though but thanks for the idea =D Should be a fun next project! And thanks for the pictures, they're gonna be useful. Ah and where have I been? Well for a long time I was a console gamer *yuck* but back to PC now and this thing can actually run the BAT properly. I made my old stuff on a laptop with integrated Intel graphics >.> No fun I tell ya

I want to put a NYPD logo next to the entrance but I have no idea how to get the white borders of the image transparent. The PNG has the correct alphas already, I just can't get it to show correctly in gmax. Anyone?^^

I like the look of this building. The window area at the corner of the second floor is a nice feature. Two questions, though: Where's the main entrance? The garage door? And what's the black line in the left corner of the second floor?

The building on the left is purely fictional. No roofjunk yet, I'm thinking about a helipad. And instead of a garage I'm gonna make a ploppable carpark, so you can fit this into your cities however you like.

The roofs seems too clean in my opinion. I think you need to add dirt
