Trouble opening cheat box

A few weeks ago I spilled water on my keyboard, any my x and z keys no longer work when pressed. I've been using the on screen keyboard from windows to hit the buttons in the mean time. 

 

I just got Sim City 4 and, since my x key doesnt work, the ctrl + x function in game mode does not work. I therefore don't know how to open the cheat box and use cheats. Does anyone have any advice on how to open the cheat box, or how to change SC4 hotkey functions? Really want to play the game.

I think you're better off by buying a new keyboard. They are not that expensive, and an on-screen keyboard will eventually become a real pain.

Agreed. a new keyboard will be less pain, and you can probably find some new ones for around $10-15, or some used ones at thift stores for less if you know where to shop.

 

Of course, it should be possible to use the on-screen keyboard to hold down ctrl while you select "x", but it will still be a pain to play with and to type on, especially if you use keyboard shortcuts for other stuff.

I agree.  The most complex keyboard these days only costs about $20.  If you have a laptop, you might have to have it serviced to replace the keyboard, and let that be a warning to you.  I have a "waterproof" keyboard.
