Brooklyn (my way)

Right now, I am working on downtown, South Brooklyn. I have some problems with trafic, but I am slowly working on mass transit and bigger roads.



As you can see, I am using the New York region map, and I am planning to expand throughout the largest part of the region and into Manhattan Island.



Farms dominated industry early, and now high-tech industry is making a push. I am putting in freeways to help commutes and the monorails do the same.



My first residential area. Nothing above med residential is going here, but traffic is a big problem. I am going to put avenues and mass transit to reduce the problem and help the commute.



This is downtown as of now. It is small, but it will expand to be much largers later. There still are no true skyscrapers, but they will come once I lower the taxes and the population grows larger.

As you can see, there is still a lot of land to use in the city, and I am nowhere near done. If anyone has advice on what I can do to it please tell me. I would like constructive criticism so that I can make this city bigger and better. Thanks for reading this.

Good start, is this your first CJ?

The city seems to be developing at a steady rate with numerous good sized apartment blocks growing. However, I get the impression that you have developed your city at a faster rate than it can afford. There appears to be a fair amount of dilapidation occuring probably through the aviliblility of jobs. Saying that, you say that the big business will come when you have lowered your taxes and so if that is the case, the dilapidation will be a thing of the past.

I hope this is a good first reply to your CJ and I hope that you will continue to add to Brooklyn, in your own special way!

Thanks, this is my first CJ, so I am looking for all the help I can get. It has been a great city to work with so far, but I've had too many fire problems near my industrial center. I don't want to put a fire station there because I don't have the money for it, and I have the smoke detector initiative. I'll post updates either today or tommorrow.

Now, for this update, I have created the downtown (that is still growing) and have added to the infastructure.



This is the new downtown. I have plopped famous buildings here and the freeways should help the traffic that I am anticipating.



Trying to create realism in the city, I have started to make suburbs. The small town on the right is the beginnings of this, and on the right is new industry zone to help the economy.



Last but not least is the international airport. You can see the new freeways around it, and these will be integral once I expand past these freeways and into other cities.

I have driven through Brooklyn once, so I don't really know what it looks like. That is why I wanted to make it the way I did.

Oh, and before I go further, I have had to use a free money mod in order to expand downtown quickly. I am hoping that by increasing tax rates on high-tech and agricultural industry slowly, I can return to the black and be able to expand the city towards the airport.

So I am thinking of starting new cities east of South Brooklyn so that I can reach the coast and help industry in the bustling metropolis. If anyone has any ideas on how I can do this quickly without any more cheating, please tell me. I would love to hear your ideas. Thanks again everyone.

I've never been to Brooklyn either so it all looks good to me.
