I'm New And I Need Some Help

I am planning on getting SimCity 5 for my mac, but I heard it has a bunch of glitches. Would it be better to buy the PC version and install it via a program like Wine or just get the Mac version, play it and if it doesn't work maybe wait until the glitches are fixed? I haven't been able to find anything on it and I need some guidance.

Well, there have been a few patches since the release of the Mac version and emulating Windows comes with its own problems. I would assume that the Mac version is about on the same level as the PC version by now.

IIRC you get "both" versions when you buy it - so if you buy the Mac one you also get the option to use the PC one too, just not at the same time. Best check beforehand on the EA/Maxis website though.

I don't play SimCity (2013), but try this: buy the PC version, then install Windows 7 on your Mac via BootCamp.

 

P.S. Do you mind buying SC4 also? You'll LOVE it, especially with its mods.

That's what I do too, although SC4 is very unstable on windows 7 for me or maybe it was the mods I used, I used the mods recommended by people on this site.  I normally use an old xp desktop to play SC4 on and I used a ton of mods for that computer too and it wasn't unstable, but I personally dont think SC4 is better than SC5, I do think SC2000 or SC3000 is better than SC5 though (I own all four of those games and I kinda wish I played the original SimCity, but never did.)

 

As far as mods go for SC5, I strongly recommend getting the chain plopper and the service road mods, most of the other ones are just graphical preferences, but those two are useful to have.  EA announced that they are allowing modding soon so I feel safe to use mods with SC5 now and only you can see the graphical mods you use so no one else knows if your using them or not.

The Mac version in my experience is not anywhere near par with the Windows version. I run both (Mac version and Windows version in Boot Camp) on the same machine and I can do mid-to-high graphics on Windows while the Mac version has to have everything minimized in order to run smoothly.

 

You do get both versions when you buy the game though. So you can try it out either way. Boot Camp + Windows version works great for me.
