How do you reduce traffic pollution?

Very difficult.  Surface traffic is a rather persistent polluter.  There are some small lots on the STEX and elsewhere that can help with this by placing them along the network, but since traffic is a given, it is hard to get rid of it all.

Tree-lined routes are your best bet, and that means that cheek-by-jowl zoning is more or less out.  Buildings have to face some part of the network, but they don't have to face the main thoroughfares, and can be set off onto sub-divisions.  This leaves room for trees along the main drags.

Of course, this won't work very well in the commercial central district or CBD.  These buildings must face the main thoroughfares, but subways can help this quite a bit.

Actually, it's very easy.  If you use the NAM, traffic pollution is reduced by 60% when you enable the Clean Air Act.  That 60% number can be modified up or down (all the way to zero) by using the Traffic Simulator Configuration Tool.

Yet another feature of the TSCT I was unaware of.  The NAM is getting so large it is hard to know what's in it anymore.

I did not know that.  Actually a good piece of information to know.
