My Grrr #1:

This just showed up on an otherwise happy tile. Anyone know what plug in may be behind this?

My Grrr #2:

About the same time some LBT textures disappeared from lots - sidewalks, parking lots and such. Anyone knwo what may behind this?

These gremlins are naughty and they need to leave SC4 alone! :D

No one has been able to decode the "Plugin Pack Numbers."  They appear to just be random.  You have to scour your memory and remember if there's any possible way you could have moved or deleted something in your plugins folder.

Keep in mind that it's entirely possible that something got deleted without your consent (e.g., your Antivirus program ran a scan and removed something).

File system hiccups.  Could be a virus as suggested, or available file table overflow due to insufficient maintentance and the files are simply lost off the end of your FAT.  When was the last time you did maintenance on the disk containing your plugins?

If the virus check doesn't turn up anything try cleaning up your disk space:

  1. Disk cleanup to get rid of temporaries and other garbage
  2. Disk Defragmenter to consolidate fragmented files on disk.  SC4 fragments the daylights out of city files.  As a result the whole file system suffers.
  3. Last resort, schedule a chkdsk and boot your machine.  It runs off-line before the boot.

Help Keep Simtropolis Online, Open & Free!

Would you be able to help us catch up after a bit of a shortfall?

We had a small shortfall last month. Your donation today would help us catch up for this month.

Make a Donation, Get a Gift!

We need to continue to raise enough money each month to pay for expenses which includes hardware, bandwidth, software licenses, support licenses and other necessary 3rd party costs.

By way of a "Thank You" gift, we'd like to send you our STEX Collector's DVD. It's some of the best buildings, lots, maps and mods collected for you over the years. Check out the STEX Collections for more info.

Each donation helps keep Simtropolis online, open and free!

Thank you for reading and enjoy the site!
