Just curious, question about manufacturing industry and road access?

It's not a big deal but I was just wondering, why do my manufacturing industries sometimes randomly have no road access?  I'll be playing and all of a sudden notice a no-road zot over an abandoned factory... in the middle of an industrial zone not touching any roads.  Is it because the industrial zones don't automatically build roads like the other zones do?  It's not a big problem because I just dezone them and plant a bunch of trees to help with my air quality, I was just curious....

Industrial zones do work a little differently than Commercial and Residential. Industrial zones act like 'hubs' where every arrowed section does not have to have road access. As long as there's access somewhere along the 'hub', things will work fine. That is why industrial sections may show workers at one end but freight may be leaving the other side of a section. This may also be the cause of those temporary no-road zots as things balance out over the Industrial zones while playing the game. When I've seen them, they've always gone away in a relatively short time.

If you're interested, you can control the layout of the industrial zones by using the Alt. Shift, and Ctrl keys. It's a little more complicated than using them with Residential and Commercial, but it can be done.

A no-road zot could indicate an impending build.  I'd leave them for a sim-year or two.
