Hello everyone!

I am, like many other people having a few traffic issues. Iv been playing the game since just after release and hae had verying degrees of success with my traffic layout! My current city, which is the first in my new region, i seem to have done something and the traffic is a mess!

Simple really.

1. Don't make high density if your already have more space for medium density.

2. If you are creating high density, then you have to have more roads, literally MORE so that the cars that come out from a high density building have somewhere to fit in. You have to remember that a high density building takes 10 car lengths of road to be built next to, with two lanes that is space for 20 cars but from that building over 300 cars are coming out.

3. Don't have buildings zoned on the same street on both sides. At medium and high density have 1 street for each side.

Buildings=>l space Buildings=>l

Buildings=>space Buildings=>

Buildings=>space Buildings=>

and not:

Buildings=>l<= Buildings

Buildings=>l<= Buildings

Buildings=>l<= Buildings

    Thank you Perablenta, i kinda understand!Basically only zone down one side of the road with more space between buildings? What about the houses along the road along the bottom? just space them out more?

    The reason i moved to high density as opposed to zoning more residential as i am trying to drill out all the oil first so i can turn it into a university town!!

    Thank you for your replay and apologies if i seem a bit slow on the uptake lol!

    Yes.

    And the "space" I wrote is just the space the game makes between a street and the back of the building. You can follow the guides for high density spacing just don't zone on both sides, you got that part right.

    Instead of having a street parallel to your avenue and then more buildings on the edge of the map, you could make an avenue that is on the edge of the map and just keep going to it with the streets that lead from the top avenue.

    And if you want more high density instead of the zoning more, at least space it out. Make 1 building here, then another in the next block and so on. You unzone the whole street block, upgrade the street to high density and then zone just one field with enough R zone for a high density building.

    That can get you in trouble if your medium ones become abandoned or destroyed because next time you zone it might go to high density. You can stop it by unzoing before the foundations change to high density or by zoning smaller parts so that only medium density can be made(only works for low wealth medium density).

    Best idea is to have an intersection that divides a long street so you can make a HD building on just that corner and not have to upgrade a long HD street.
