hi,

Does anyone know the answer to this??

If I download some of those plug-ins that are .exe files onto a PC and pull out all the files on the PC and then transfer them to my mac (via bluetooth for example) and put them in the plug-ins folder, will they work?

thanks.

The short answer is no. Mac will not run any .exe file without special assistance.

Often times, files that are on the STEX as .exe files are available elsewhere as manual install .dat files, which Mac can use. All PEG lots are like this, for example. PEG has a seperate website where everything is Mac compatible.

Most .exe files from BSC are available on the BSC Mac archive, found in this forum. Check the link on page 5.

Another option is to run the .exe files on your Windows computer and copy the files created to your Mac. Those should work. This probably only works if you have SimCity installed on your PC though.

I don't know how much filejuicer will help. I suspect that it doesn't work on all .exe files.

You can use FileJuicer (99% of the exe files except EA exe files gives accurate results) or copy the files from a PC (again not for EA exe files because they look for installed game on the hard disk... Content of the exe files are same as the files you need to use on Macs.
Cheers.

Yes, the files that come out of the .exe will work on either PC or Mac. You can either run the .exe on a PC and then transfer the files to your Mac, or you can get FileJuicer, and extract the files directly on your Mac. Either way, the files that come up are the same.

    Thanks everyone.

My copy of rush hour just arrived today so I'll try everything that's been mentioned here and see what seems easiest for me..

In the new omnibus tutorial for MAC users it doesn't mention FIleJuicer - do you think it should or was this intentional?

The reason I ask, is that since FileJuicer was available and worked 99.9% of the time on .exe installer files, I've ceased to add things to the BSC MAC archive.

Filejuicer works ONLY for Mac users with the most up-to-date operating systems. The Filejuicer program for those (like myself) running OS 10.2.8 are out of luck.
