McDonalds taking over my commercial buildings

So far in my little town, all four commercial buildings have used the McDonalds prop etc.  If it's too small for them to use it, then the building is safe, but I don't want my commercial district to look like some sort of dystopian hypercorporation city.

I reckon my best bet would be to just get rid of the damn thing.  Anyone ever had something similar happen to them?

Note, this isn't only McDonalds being the only place that is constructed, just that all the businesses are using the model and stuff for it, but still have their own names.

The reason why your Mcdonald's grows so easily, is because your game lacks alternative buildings with similar stats. Try searching for more buildings on the STex..

Having the city filled with Mcdonald's must be better than having it filled with the default "Bennett Music Corp" all over the place, thouh... :D

You could delete the lot from your plugins folder of course...

But you don't have to do that.  I think the better solution here(if you want to keep McDonald's in your cities) is to get the SC4PIM(SC4Plugin Manager) Link here https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2260, and just alter the building occupancy to be more like "normal" lots.  This will likely mean reducing the occupancy so that it is more in line with other lots in your game.  If all the other buildings that are popping up have like 27 people working there then I would adjust the occupancy for the McDonald's lot to be 27 as well, this will make it a fair for all the other lots.  When the game searches for a lot to fulfill the demand it looks for the highest possible occupancy and places that lot, by reducing the occupancy on the McDonald's lot you will make it compete with other similar lots and that will make it look more random.

This phenomenon is what we call "growing like weeds" some lots are notorious for it, even some maxis lots are notorious for it.  That blue roof commercial building and the red roof commercial building are lots like that, they "grow like weeds" and this is because they employ larger numbers of workers fulfilling the demand better than other buildings of that same occupancy type.

This is the first time I have explained it to someone, it is my understanding of it, I hope I was able to articulate it well enough.
