I say it is all the more fun. Many clues can be obtained from just a picture such as this, for example, the lettering on the franchises tells you they are not in Quebec, the flatness eliminates most maritime provinces and BC, while the foliage leaves you with pretty much four provinces to pick from. Had I left the sign in the upper right intact, it could have betrayed that it was on the border of two certain provinces, a sure giveaway. Also, the fact that so many franchises are crowded in the area tells you that a major highway travels through the town. Coming from a city where to identify downtown, you would have to know a Safeway is directly accross from a QFC, and traveling to places such as Mt. Shasta, California, where downtown is pretty much a commercial strip, it typifies some cities. Also, what makes it any harder than having to guess the following city posted in MCUS?

Anyway, returning to the game, the closest city so far has been Brandon, and I'll tell you that it isn't south of it.

No, I don't think it's Quebec City, Quebec City is much bigger, has Terrasse Dufferin along the river, a rather large hill, and Chateau Frontenac which dominates the city. Maybe Trois-Rivieres, Quebec or Fredericton, New Brunswick?

I have to give the first point to RadioHeadFan for correctly naming the province.

    This city is in Quebec.

I will count RadioheadFan's answer as correct, as technically it is.

The city is Saguenay, Quebec. (Formerly Chicoutimi, Jonquiere, La Baie, and Latteriere) [pop. 148,050]
Saguenay was formed on Feb 18, 2002 by the merger of the above cities. It is located on the Saguenay River, and the city is divided into three boroughs, Chicoutimi, Jonquiere, and La Baie. The area was originally settled in 1676 as a French fur trading post.

Looks like British Columbia...maybe Revelstoke, BC or Campbell River? By the way, are you going to update the stats on the front page?

RadioheadFan is correct, the province is British Columbia, now we just need a city.

Aarrghh Mies, you've got enough points, so I hope I win this one! It's time for another guess from me, so I'll say either Port Alberni or Squamish.

Mies has the corretc answer the city is:

    Sooke, British Columbia [pop. 11,600]

Sooke was originally settled by the native Salish people long ago, but it wasn't until 1849 that white settlers began to arrive. The population of the town boomed in 1864 with the Leech River gold rush. Today, Sooke is a popular summer vacation destination for the residents of vancouver.

Hmmm...looks like either Campbellton, New Brunswick, or Summerside, PEI. With my luck, it's probably in either one of the other 2 Maritime provinces...

    RadioheadFan has the right answer.

    Picton, Ontario [pop. 3,983]

The town of Picton was named after General Sir Thomas Picton, the second in command on the British side at the Battle of Waterloo. Picton was incorporated in 1836, and is the largest town, and the governmental seat of Prince Edward County.

That looks like it's in the Badlands of Alberta, but still pretty far from Drumheller.
