Mies has it right, the city is Kelowna, British Columbia (Pop: 108,421)

 

Kelowna is located on Lake Okanogan in eastern B.C. Founded in 1860, it has seen rapid growth since the 1950's (16,000 people in the forties). Kelowna is home to one of only two floating bridges outside of Washington State, and is home to the 11th largest airport in Canada. Kelowna is known as one of the most livable of Canadian cities. Interestingly, Lake Okanogan is home to its own version of the Loch Ness Monster, known as Ogopogo. Continuous sighting over the years provide belie0f in this lake monster, a statue of him even exists in the cities lakeside park, along with interpretive signs saying who to contact in the event of a sighting.

The city is Wilson's Beach, New Brunswick (pop. 986)

 

Wilson's Beach is the largest of three towns on Campobello Island, the others being Welshpool and North Road. Wilson's Beach, which dates back at least to the mid-to-late 1800's, is a fishing port, and is home to a number of whale watching cruise lines. The island itself is interesting as it is only accessable by land from Lubec, Maine. Due to its proximity to the US, Campobello is home to the summer home of former president Franklin D. Roosevelt.
