Hello chaps and thank you for being interested in my problem. First of all I would like to say that I'm a newb in simcity 2013. I was good only at sim city 3k. I start a city and I simply can't figure out why I can't keep the residential, commercial and industrial zones to develop to skyscrapers. I put parks, lower taxes, put the industry in right place to avoid "smoking" the city, clinics, police stations and so on. I quite know those stuff but I can't get a nice population and get skyscrapers. Please help me somehow with tutorials and ideas! Thank you!

Upgrade your roads to high density.

Put higher wealth parks around your city center and lower wealth parks in the outer areas.

Put city services and parks in a centralized location spread out in a circle around the area you want to grow.  The influence is additive and one park wont change things.  You need the influence of several parks and services buildings to upgrade the area to higher density / wealth.  You can check the population density and land value overlays to see how happy people are and check the influence you have in any one area.

Hope that helps.

The invention of beer and the wheel were the foundation of modern civilization & together were the catalyst that split humanity into two distinct subgroups: liberals & conservatives. Some men spent their days tracking & killing animals to B-B-Q at night while they were drinking beer. These men were called "conservatives". Other men who were weaker & less skilled at hunting learned to live off the conservatives by showing up for the nightly B-B-Q's & doing the sewing, fetching & hair dressing. They were called "progressives".

Use your "data maps". Land value map is useful when placing parks for medium and high wealth. Low wealth doesn't really need parks unless they are too far from commercial.

Definition of success; like getting the juice from an orange, just suck and suck until you suck seed.

First stop what your doing and go the nearest game retailer and buy SIMCITY4 DELUXE (which is the newest and most complete version of the game). Start by zoning low density, then choose medium and then, voala, zone HIGH density and if all services, traffic, and a bunch of other stuff are right, you'll get skyscrapers...
