Hello and Welcome to the SWAP Support page, This thread is supposed to be the place where you can get help with the pack, report bugs, make sugestions and just talk about your SWAP Airports.

1. What is SWAP?
SWAP is short for SimWings Airport Pack, which is an replacement for Joerg(v1.3) and Thalassicus(v2.1b) Airport Packs. It

Contains everything these packs did, and proper credit should be given to all the creations that are Joergs respectivley

Thalassicus.

2a. Installation
PRIOR TO INSTALLATION!
Remove any traces of Joergs & Thalassicus Packs, these will cause horrible graphic bugs if you dont, there integrated in

SWAP anyway.

Copy the Folder to your Plugins Directory(eather one), preferably the one in your My Documents Folder.

2b. Dependancies:
SC4 Rush Hour or Deluxe Edition
√ Maxis Buildingpropvol1.dat prop pack
√ Maxis Buildingpropvol2.dat prop pack
√ Simtropolis Landmark Props Pack
√ An Updated SimCity4 RH or Deluxe ed.
BAT-Patch(For Nightlights)

3. I am experiencing Problems
Graphic Gliches? Solution, remove ALL prior versions of the Airport Pack, this is the update, the previous versions are outdated...

Remove any other lots that may modify/add/delete any airport related lots.

4. About Simwings?
SimWings is a group of people who decided to join arms to creat Airport Related BATS, we are looking for more members, so

if anyone is interested and can supply a decent level of BATS(or whatever your feild of expertece is), Contact one of the

A Note to anyone who wants to make a Terminal Functional and have compability with the SWAP, because of a limit of SC4,

all functional terminals have to be routed through ONE file, this file is containd within TH's AP,

Terminal_Developer_Types. once you have your terminal functioning send over the Instance Number to me(Xiziz) and i will

add it to the next version of SWAP.

5. Credits

2.0 Thalasicus Original Update
-All buildings are now fully functional. Police and fire provide their respective services, terminals serve as the main

airport for capacity purposes, and there is a Package Loading Center for industrial destinations.
- Reworked most runway lots, you can now build runways and taxiways almost any way you can imagine
- Added many more runway lights and effects
- Added more runway clearance pieces, parked aircraft, 3 sizes of tarmac and open grass.
- Added tarmac curves, diagonals, and corners for building taxiways

Dang, my Joerg airport is outdated now.

Stupid question, does this have a Tram station? I couldn't find a mention of it.

Wow, that airport in the first picture sure is a monster! Hopefully there's a peoplemover, cause I'd hate to try to race waaay across the maze-like terminal to connect between flights!

I like how you can build the runways the way you like. Much more realistic. Good work on keeping the airport mods alive!

This might seem like a stupid question, but does this Airport Pack contain all of the same lots and features in both Joerg's and Thalassicus's Airports? I mean, if you download this Pack, will you be able to use the terminals and runways and stuff from Joerg and Thalassicus as well?

Will you have to download their packs separately to be able to do this? Thanks.

I think this is good. I've been looking out for a properly built airport model which included buildings which weren't just rehashes of old buildings stuck together for a long time.

However, a criticism.

The textures you've used, and, in fact, the general appearance of your buildings is really way too concretey and not very pretty. Even regional airports are at least painted white or something such that they're easier on the eye. Even if they don't go to the extent of full glass structures, they at least cover up the grey.

Just a criticism. Perhaps you could release a more modern version at a later date?

    Some replies!

    DigitalGekko: Yes, this pack contains everything the TH -Pack did, and is fully backwards compatible with TH-Pack(your existing airports wont screew up), The tram is still ingame and working exactley as before!

    sparkythepenguin: Id sure hope so it, otherwise it be a daytrip to get from one side to another. though that airport has an Monorail built around the terminals for quick acsess ^^

    mpetryni: This Pack contais all the previous pecies, if you have any of the existing packs, you will have to delete the files from your plugins dir, if the airport was TH2.1Beta it will function correctly still, if it was from an eralier version i cant say for sure.

    Its all included in the One download, and thats the way i wish to keep it.
    As the pack gets updated i will probably relese a patch version download for those already using the pack, and a full version for those who dont, so you dont have to download the whole thing again ^^

    danjel: You will be glad to here that a modern pack is already in the thinking stages. these are very concrety and conservative terminals, but if you do look closley you will se that the concrete is red and blue 2.gif

    I'll be waiting for your modern versions, and using these ones for regional/rural airports in the meantime.

    When I build a terminal, everything is fine.  But after I close the city, I can't open it again - the game crashes every time.

    Anyone else share the same problem?

    Hmm, I've been having the exact same problem as you ( look here ). I was going to conclude that it was a corrupt save, but I think a similar case may reopen the floor. The modular terminals in the SWAP were the last things I placed before exiting my city, and, like shapedy, that city crashes everytime I try to load it now. It's odd though. I tried placing the modular terminals, as well as some other recently d/led plugins of mine in another city as a test, to see if they were to blame, but that city continues to work perfectly.

    Well, i need a word here, personally, i have been unable to recreate the problem people are experiencing with the SWAP. The only thing that could be conflicting with the SWAP is anything that modifies or adds/changes any of the original airport lots, or adds new airport lots that are airport-enabled. That should definatley couse a crash since its gonna have a dual set up of a a pair of files that there can only been one of.

    do any of you experiencing the crashes have any such lots installed in your plugins dir?

    Im continuing to investigate the problem though!

    I think I just fixed the crashing problem.  Some might not consider it fixed, though.  The story:
     
    I got rid of all things in the airport sub-directory in my plugins folder.  I still had the problem.  I then tried taking out part of Thalassicus's original pack; specifically the terminal files (the ones with the word terminal in them2.gif).  After building the my desired airport terminal (with SWAP) I saved, and reopened succesfully!
    I tried saving and opening 3 more times while I built the terminal, all succesfully.
     
    I don't mind not having the old terminals anyway (isn't that the point of SWAP anyway?).

    SWAP's point is to provde the means to build a terminal to fit your means and design ^^

    Though removing those files should make the Swap to eyecandy.

    uless you had 2 versions of TH installed. Ive modified 2 files in the TH pack you se:
    Airport_Terminals_AirportDeveloperType.dat
    Airport_Terminals_AirportDeveloperTypes.dat

    These contain the information to make terminals functional. Both old and new, then there is the last terminal file wich incldes the bits and peices terminals.



    Those experiencing problems with the pack, could you pleace start up the game with ONLY the unzipped contents of the Swap SimWings-Airport-Pack 2.2.zip and try to load an existing airport and report back to me, id like to know your previous version of airport pack to.

    Im thinking the pack might be backwards-incopatible, i know it is with 1.0->2.0, but 2.1 airpors should work.

    Also to se that there istnt something wrong with your system, open a new citytile, place one of each of the 6 items and save, try reloading that tile again. if its crashes then, youve got eather a corrupt file, corrupt sc4 installation or something wrong in your computer system.

    People without problems could also help me and se if its possible to load older airports (more specificly 1.3 airports and 2.1 airports)

    I have a question... I have used the other airport packs for my airports so far, so if I uninstall them and install this airport pack, what will happen to the different tarmacs and runways that have been built with the previous pack? Do these continue to work or will I get a missing plugin error?

    This is just something I would like know before installing this airport pack.

    if you had 2.1beta from Thalassicus im answering: No no missing plugins, no graphical defects, and everything will work just fine.

    If you used the Blocky Joerg packs from 2003, you might encounter problems, though these derive from TH's pack, if this is the case im sorry to say that you will have to rebuild that airport :/

    The curved glass terminals look an awful lot like John Wayne airport in Orange County,California. Anyways Im a newbie to all this game modding stuff for simcity4 and yours is the first lot ive downloaded. I tore out the maxis standard municipal airport in my very large city. Im wondering about the tram which is what gives these airport packs its regional capicity. How do they work? do I just place one at the airport sight and then one in each city in my region that i want to use the airport? I will try to post pics once i finally do get down to creating an airport also how do I use your version of terminals with the ones from joerg? any help would be appeciated. GREAT JOB BY THE WAY!

    SimNewbie83: Hey, i didnt actually know it looked alike anything that was built IRL, Im very glad(And im sure the Entire Team is too) Happy that you like our work, and that of Joerg & Thalassicus(the Brainchild and Previous updaters of the pack)

    The Tram actually is an Airport, so any city you place it in it will be exactley as if you placed an Airport there, exept that it dosnt look out of place with the tram in your DT as an Large Internastional Airport would look very our of place.
     
    But for every city that demands an airport in your region add a Tram to that city, the Terminals all and capacity so the airport tile dosnt have to have one, though you could easly ahve one there if you feel it looks better ^^

    Ok question guys... I've built my first airport with this airport pack and it is getting zero use.  Any ideas/suggestions

     
    I need to clarify that I have only airport stuff in this tile, all my residents are away from my regional airport...also I can not make diagonal runways.

    If the airport is on its own tile (without other development) it won't get any use - its just regional eye candy.  You place the airport tram lot in other cities; it has the same functions of an airport, but its only about 7 tiles across so If we use our imaginations31.gif it seems like the airport tram lot really is a tram to the airport in another city.  In reality however, all airports only have citywide effects.

    Diaganol runways... not really possible, only diagonal taxiways have been created.  Runways have been considered but no one has yet followed through.

    Thats just from one of them, does that help you guys any?  How can I get my airport back or at the very least my tile for my region?????

    yeah my pack worked fine all this time ive had it a week. I saved because ive been busy and tried to open to work on my airport and everytime i click the tilegame crashes and it exits the game abrubtly. Wondering what i could do should i just uninstall the files and wait til bug is fixed?

    Uh... Xiziz, why are there 2 files required for the modular terminals to work? I ran SC4Tool and found the same terminals in each file! One of the files is DAT and the other is SAV. Could this be the problem, running two duplicate files that might conflict with each other in terms of performance and game crashing?

    Same problem on my side... The game crashes to windows when loading the city containing the airport.

    I did some testing, and it looks like a very odd bug. First, I made two airports on the same tile (after the first one crashed I deleted the city and started over again). The second time, it crashed only a few hours of work. Here's a screenshot of what was done.

    It was almost only airport stuff and I started thinking it might be SWAP 2.2. So I created a new city in an empty region and plopped about anything I could think of that was in the crashing city. But everything was fine and the city always loaded. Also, I've imported the airport city in another region and it still crashes (nothing surprising there I guess). And on the old tile I could build anything without the city craching when loading.
     
    The testing had to be long because in both attempts I did to build an airport with SWAP2.2, it only crashed after 4-5 times saving (and I do save VERY often (especially the second time).

    Yes... but ive not had time to respond... im very busy in real life. i will respond once i get the time to make a proper responce...

    And im still unable to reproduce the problem. so it must be a client side conflict. Most likley with an older airportpack or something.

    The 2 terminal files are supposed to be there, they are red by different parts of the game or something, TH made it very clear that they both had to be there though ^^

    All other lots from what i understood only changes visuals, they shouldnt be a conflict at all. but they may be, so place tem in one by one and check ^^

    can you test them, try to make sure all those will work, becuase my airports use those extra terminals, and i want the private airport for small towns.
