    San Diego County Page 8

CobyCash: The region + plugins is about 1 GB, and the region heavily depends on the plugins.  I'm not really sure about re-distributing other people's plugins, but without them nothing would work.  So, I guess I'm saying I don't really see a way to copy this to other people, it's too big to send one-off, and publicly posting 500 megs of different people's bats, lots, and mods isn't really encouraged by most of the content creators.

    South Clairemont Builds Out

    socl0013qk.jpg

The small lots of parts of South Clairemont house many of the workers in San Diego's High Tech and Commercial areas.  The playground above was made to help compensate for the pathetic yards.

    socl0023yj.jpg

The old town part of South Clairemont, complete with a 100+ year old cemetary and some commercial offices.

    socl0034dp.jpg

More of the newly grown suburban areas.  As the area flattens out there's less open green spaces - around here they're mostly used to fill out sloped areas.

    socl0048gz.jpg

One of the latest areas developed was this small neighborhood south of Clairemont Mesa High School.  Once again hillsides created some challengers for developers.

Suburbs are looking great and very realistic. You can see the attention payed to detail on each area. Also the traffic  looks good. I can relate in some areas of mine I have major traffic. I may release pics. Some busy freeway pictures would be nice too.

Ahhh, Clairemont, where my uncle lives and my college roommate grew up.

Myself, I lived in OB as a baby, can barely remember it, on Saratoga St., just around the corner from what would become my favorite bar in the world, the Pacific Shores, where you can get drunk for $10 and nearly die of alchohol poisoning for $20.

Spent many a summr at my aunt's in Scripps Ranch, just above USIU, where the Chargers held training camp in the 70's, still have the autographed football i got when I was 6.

Then to PB during law school, and the fabulous Oakwood apartments, which I heard were even crazier in the 60s and 70s then they were in the 90s, and things were pretty wild in the 90s, more like a college dorm than an apartment complex...

Oh, sorry, just wanted to say excellent work, seriously. 1.5 was great too.

You have a nice, unassuming grid there. If you want to prevent the mansions coming in and using all the space, put a grass buffer zone/park area between the houses, and you'll get more low density mansions into the neighborhood.

Well... I will probably be coming back, but it could use both updates, and my advice. Noth of which meaning I must watch this CJ. The reason I never enter most CJs, is because of stupid names. With an imitation you can't really go wrong, and everybody can tell you how to do it, sorry, but it's true.

    Miramar Densification Plans Released

    semi0105mg.jpg

Miramar - Where mansions and manufacturing meet.  Southeast Miramar, with it's wealth of freeway access (I-15, CA-163, CA-52, Miramar Way, and Kearny Villa Rd all pass through at freeway grade) has become some of San Diego County's most valuable non-coastal land.  The close proximity to Miramar International Airport and Cargo Facilities has only accelerated the growth that SE Miramar was planned for.

    semi0115pc.jpg

Some of the business parks along KVR's frontage roads.  The KVR mainline handles about 12,000 commuters every morning through here.

    semi0128sh.jpg

Here we have the west end of Miramar Way, at KVR.  This is becoming a chokepoint for commuters as KVR fills up with traffic out of Mira Mesa every morning.

    semi0130nb.jpg

CA-52 as it passes through the central part of town.  As Clairemont Mesa grows up to the south, this area is expected to slowly replace the industry with more offices.

    semi0146on.jpg

Further west, near Miramar International is this small plaza, among others.  Convenient shopping, along with the airport and the freeways, are some of the reasons for the success of this neighborhood.

And some stats (as of last night):

    2 353 635 residents
    1 048 589 commercial jobs
    328 098 industrial jobs

There are 112 medium-sized tiles with populations over 0.

    The average populations are:
    21 015 residents
    9362 com jobs
    2929 ind jobs

925 515 residents live in the 10 largest neighborhoods:

Downtown, Barrio Logan, Harbor Island, SW National City, Mission Valley, Fasion Valley, Banker's Hill, NE Miramar, NW National City, SE Mira Mesa.

The remaining apprx 1.4 million residents are spread across the other 102 established neighborhoods/cities.

Outside of perhaps only Digby, you must have the most conscientiously laid-out CJ I have seen, and it shows no let-up!

    Keep up the great work!

    More Shots of Miramar

    swmi1022bj.jpg

Just a few hundred meters west of the airport in SW Miramar is this new array of sports fields and the large Semper Fi Open Space Park, named in tribute of the real military base this area IRL.

    miia0118fb.jpg

Moving over to San Diego/Miramar International Airport, here you can see some of the larger office buildings lining N Convoy St, and the new subdevelopment featured.  The Vernal Tides development, named for all the vernal pools destroyed to allow yet more expansion of the city, is a small community with long commute times due to congestion on Convoy at CA-52.

    miia0128zg.jpg

And the rolling hillsides that were allowed some low-density growth.  Much of the space was kept open, but the flipside of that is that a lot of it wasn't.  This is just south of CA-52.

    Development Slows

    nuci0026hy.jpg

University City and parts of Miramar and Mira Mesa have seen growth, but many residents are wondering where their mayor is?  Just busy, sorry.

Some new terraced housing that's been recently built.

    nwmi1017oj.jpg

And lots of little 1x1 tract housing has shown up.  People are willing to keep moving in, to my surprise.

    nwmi1024dl.jpg

And here's another shot from the Miramar area.

The region map was on the map exchange, I'd assume it's still around ST somewhere in the exchange.

I use a program called Region Census to take the region shots.  I really don't recall where I downloaded it from, but it's been discussed on ST before in its own threads.

Now, as some of you probably saw, things have slowed down.  I got a new PC, and SC4 had some problems.  They're fixed now, but in the meantime I started Santa Barabara County .  San Diego will still be worked on, just not as much probably.

Wow, your region looks really great and interested! Carlsbad, Encinitas are the same as real cities. Do you think to create Cabrillo Island?

Now Im working on San Leandro County project but it not the same that real region.
Soon I hope, I'll post some screens with info about cities
    Nice work.

    Hey David,

I'm new to these forums and I just found your City Journal. I just read through it, and wow, as a fellow San Diegan, I can say that I'm truly amazed.

Great job on your re-creation of our county! And keep up the awesome work! 2.gif

I've been working mostly on my Santa Barbara recently, but there's but minor changes to San Diego. I'm planning on getting a re-cap shot together, as well as doing some East County work in the next few days to take a break from Santa Barbara.

I'm also waiting for my domain to become available, which San Diego will be posted in .rar format - just the region files. I'll put a list of all my plugins in with it, but it's up to you to find them all.

They should all be on ST, SC4pegasus.com, simcity.com, and/or simcity central.

I'll make no promises, but if you want to give it a try, I'll post when it's done uploading.
