Did Origin actually have the nerve to raise the price of 2013 here recently?

I could have sworn I saw the downloadable version for PC on Amazon for 49$ Now it is 59$.

Must be making up for all the free games they handed out during launch.

I don't have the new simcity, not do I plan to buy it, but it is either because demand is high. I just saw the stocks for EA and it is skyrocketing! Stocks went up after it's release too, but went down during mid-March throughout April.

Early '05 was EA's best year.

Its a shame that a company can still profit hugely on a product that was looked down on so negatively, but cant blame them I guess. Its the people that bought the game.

Actually Simcity 2013 has been on SALE over the past few weeks.

The price has not officially dropped yet, which is quite surprising for a game these days.

You can never trust EA. One day they are rocking with simcity 4, Fifa, then the next your seeing them create destinations and 2013, and what in the world do they try to acheive with a name like "destinations"?

And now the downloadable version is $59 and the boxed version is $49.

    And last week,

Speaking of Best Buy, if you have a Best Buy near you, you could go in and get them to price-match the Amazon.com price, something they've just started doing recently.

I don't think EA has much to do with it in general, and Amazon may seem like a head scratcher, but I think part of Amazon's thing is they have automated changes.  With Amazon and Best Buy dropping prices, it could be simply they are clearing inventory for other games that are coming out over the summer, or they are trying to pull in people who were perhaps playing something else when SC was launched.

I would not take it as a sign of bad things or bad sales unless everybody is doing it at the same time (which would be a sign that something major is happening), because this happens to all video games at some point, and it seems to happen a lot more often these days due to people being able to easily comparison shop.

As a matter of fact, after more major patches, and perhaps the addition of larger cities and/or modding, I would expect EA to put it on sale, and the retailers to follow suit, to capture any buzz/goodwill that maybe generated.

I bought this on April 27th for 39.99$ from Amazon. It's price goes up and down from time to time. Check the price regularly or put this in your watch list if you wish to buy it.
