Here's one solution to those pesky streetlights, Lexus:

I'd be happy to see something like this really take off. Even for those who voice concerns against GMO (albeit nothing likely being wrong with this case) I'd imagine the same effect can still be achieved with the addition of chlorophyll working outside the host plant's normal photosystems. This would cause any additional light absorbed by the plant to be emitted later. Basically, the same principle at work.

Oooh, that would be pretty awesome!

I think that could definitely work for a number of our highways. To bad that a lot of cities don't have trees growing to the side of the roads though. I suppose this could be a perfect excuse to replace some street lights with trees. More green and a lower energy bill, whats not to like about such a plan :D

Actually, it would probably be quite suited for here in Canada. Since a lot of our highways are in rural areas, or long distances between communities, some of these trees could be placed along those smaller highways where it would be too costly to provide adequate lighting, but the highway still gets a good amount of traffic.

Sounds like the model of Hobbiton.  Living in the English countryside must be a great blessing.

It's preferable to the Gong, certainly.

Anyway today I bought a 5 pound inner tube to replace my old one. I've no time for puncture repairing. I have a mountain bike so the tyres are thick and they rarely puncture anyway. Much cheaper than a car. 5 quid would just about cover a nice bumper sticker or two, if that. That'd get you maybe two hours petrol?
