SC 2000 Question

Just need a quick answer for SC 2000.

 

How do you make industrial areas grow that are far from the residential areas? Highways don't seem to do anything, same for subways; the only exception seems to be railroads, but they don't expand industrial much at all and just die eventually... Any tips? Thanks.

    Ok, I got subways to work, but can highways take people to their jobs far away, or are they mainly for commercial transport?

    I'm not sure if SC2k differentiates between different transport types. Highways definitely carry sims though. Roads do not connect directly to highways, so you need to build onramps and offramps.

    Putting a small (2x2 square) residential zone in the industrial area will help, vice/versa for putting a small industrial zone inside a residential area.

    One more question about commercial: Will sims only go to them if they're within the 3 block radius?
