Help me choose my next BAT

Hi everyone,

Like many other STEX contributors, lack of comments and rating make difficult to understand what the community want, what YOU want. So I decided to ask you directly with a poll.

What will be my next project?

I will consider seriously the results in my priority list of the projects I want to do in the next months, but I cannot guarantee that I will do all of them or in the same order you choose. Projects in underepresented categories/regions/styles on the STEX will have the priority.

hm... could you try BATting some buildings from downtown Vancouver, B.C.?  Many of the office towers are just rectangular boxes.  Or, to add some variety to the housing already on the STEX, make some low- and medium-wealth low density housing.

I agree with Hyped_up_boy, even though I voted for the Air Museum. Vancouver, BC is woefully unrepresented on the STEX. It'd be really awesome to see another Pacific Northwestern North American city going. It's my favorite city outside of Portland!

I love to go diving and have never seen anything in the game for that.  I have thought about doing somthing like that myself, but go ahead first come first serve.

I like the idea of a SCUBA shop, especially if you make it a waterside lot with a boat to take people out diving.

I also like the idea of an air force museum - though I have a particular one in mind.  This is the US Air Force Museum at Duxford in the UK (designed by Norman Foster):

I have two suggestions.

First, I would like to see a shot tower such as this one in downtown Baltimore:

I think it would add a little bit of history to our cities.

 

Second, The Viaduc Des Arts, in Paris, which is a three mile long stretch of abandoned rail viaduct. The archways underneath have all been converted into shops while the old track bed on top has been remade into a linear park. Maybe this could be made into a modular set?

If i could make a couple of suggestions, I'd love to see some buildings on the site from my home city of Dublin. There's a couple of landmarks I would like to suggest if I may!

eh, why not look at the BAT request thread? The entire point of it is so that if BATers don't know what to make they can look there and find what peopple want.

Ok here are somethings that are needed:

1. Post Office: Distrubution center, City, Suburban, Rural offices versions

 

2. Offices Low rise to mid rise. 3-10 stories

 

3. Telephone Company, office and storage/dispatch center

 

4. suburban Fire Houses, there seems to be a shortage of these.

That building would work well imo becuase:

1. It's small (2x2? 2x3?) which makes let's you spend more time on each area of the building, and it will render faster.
2. It's details and features repeat throughout the building (making it easier to spend more time on each detail since you can free up time by cloning it).
3. It's size and style is uncommon in the game and on the STEX. This is a gap that needs to be filled.

Hi everyone, I'll just say a few things about the official BAT thread since it's the second comment on that...

1- I know that thread very well (I asked and searched BATs there many times)

2- It's so huge and unfriendly...

3- Instead of having an idea of what the community wants (the objective of my poll), I would have done something requested by 1 or a few members (almost 50 with the poll actually).

 

I know you wanted to help me so thank you. But I wanted to make my objective clearer. Instead of just complaining about STEX comments and votes, I wanted to act and have an interaction with a part of that community.

Perhaps we ought to start a new forum section just for polls? I don't really think that the original post counts as a request thread, but the thread here does sort-of turn into a request log... (certainly, I'm guilty of helping that along!). I'll post an idea of mine in the main forum..

I'll answer most of the comments by building category.

 

Price building: nice idea Woko, on my BAT list since September in fact. However, it's a CO little skyscraper, a category not so underrepresented on the STEX. If I had to do of building of Quebec City, it would probably be my first choice...
