Can't figure out how to use the Highways(NAM31)

Since I have NAM31 installed apparently it creates issues using what looks like generic Maxis stuff(MHW?). So I'm trying to place a generic, elevated highway. Not a problem. until I try and find on/off ramps that work with it. There are none for what looks like the Default maxis stuff. So I decided to try some of the RHW ones that come with NAM. I just can't figure out WTF I'm supposed to do to make this stuff happen. I'm now trying to place a 6 lane elevated highway with a simple on/off ramp. I cannot find an exit piece at all anywhere in the mod. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but I get so frustrated at how non intuitive NAM is. It's a great Mod, I just hate that I end up having to spend HOURS figuring out how to do the simplest things with it. Any suggestions?

There's quite a few video tutorials on Youtube if you look.  There's an interchange guide.  The readme also has valuable information.  It does take a while to get the hang of it, but amazing things can be achieved once you do.

If you're trying to build with the game's default highway (MHW, or Maxis HighWay) then the on/off ramps can be found under their old menu icon.  (Unless you've chosen to install Project Symphony, which replaces MHW with a compact form of RHW, and removes those pieces).

So then I should probably just re-install nam (for like the 3rd time) and remove the symphony stuff? Thanks for your help!

I do realize I could make some elaborate highway systems with all the new stuff, but TBH the fact that the Biggest city size possible is 4km square it seems silly to me to have this huge highway system to do what something simple should be able to achieve.

Edited: Thank you that did the trick and is exactly what I was looking for.

dont let those numbers fool you the cities are bigger than what u think...

btw u should read the RHW user manual that comes with the NAM

The tiles are indeed 4 km on a side--but the regions can be huge.  Keep in mind that a lot of the NAM features are for realism more than functionality.  The wide curves, the roundabouts--they don't actually help you do anything in game.  They just look really cool in pictures and add some diversity to your transit system.

I can understand why you want to stick to the Maxis highway.  It's more practical.  I think that much of the reason that people who use RHW do so is because they enjoy the puzzle-like challenge.  I didn't like it either until I had used the NAM for a while and got used to how everything worked.

Glad I could help you.  Happy city building!

I don't know if I would say the RHW is impractical.  Sure it is bigger than Maxis highways and takes up more space, BUT, the capacities are higher and the speeds that sims travel across the RHWs are higher as well.

So far the best way I have found to implement the RHWs in my cities is to literally copy real world interchanges.  I will open Google Maps find an Interchange that suits my needs then screenshot it and crop it with Gimp and save it, then I will open the cropped picture in a window and use it for direct reference while I build my interchange.  The new NAM version 31.1 is just released tot he LEX and soon to the STEX, this will add stability as well.

I am currently working on and interchange that is a replica of the Interstate 71 to Interstate 75 interchange.  This interchange is located on the Southwest edge of downtown Cincinnati.  I chose this particular interchange because I wanted an interchange that was just outside of my downtown, that I could rest my downtown inside of.  If you Google it, you will notice that Cincinnati's downtown is nestled inside the of this interchange, this is exactly what I had in mind for my downtown.  It has nothing to do with the fact that I live in Cincinnati.  To me, having this RHW interchange here is VERY practical.  I will need to attach many roads and avenues to it, something I would be severely limited in doing with the Maxis highways.

I did a little math and i figured out why it seems odds to me. The Game scale is totally out of whack in a very extreme way. For example the Largest city size possible is supposed to represent a 4 kilo square. Which would make each game tile about 16 meters (or about 52 feet) square. Not only I can fit a Nice size single family home in one of those tiles, but also a 3 story Townhouse, or a Multistory commercial Office Building... 1x2 lets me fit multistory Apartment complexes...The biggest shopping mall in the game can fit in less then 100 square yards, parking lot included. I could go on and on but you get my point I think. It would seem that "Sims" are very very small people. ;)

So given that, I guess the crazy elaborate highway interchanges in NAM/RHW are in fact very useful.

SC4 changed the scale from past SimCities. Used to be that each tile represented 1 acre.
